HomeMy WebLinkAboutbocc.res.038.2008RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
OF PITKIN COUNTY, COLORADO
ESTABLISHING POLLING PLACES
Resolution No. ~-2008
Recitals
1. Polling places must be established 90 days prior to the Primary Election on August 12, 2008.
2. Pitkin County has established 10 precincts throughout the county.
3. Pitkin County Clerk and Recorder recommends relocating Precinct 6 polling place from
Snowmass Chapel and Community Center to the new Snowmass Village Town Hall. Snowmass
Chapel staff declined an agreement to use the Community Center facility for the 2008 Primary
Election, indicating that there may be parking issues due to a parking agreement with the
Anderson Ranch Arts Center. The staff further demonstrated concern in using the Snowmass
Chapel and Community Center site for the 2008 General Election due to ground breaking for the
new sanctuary in the fall.
4. The new location provides the following opportunities:
^ Adequate parking
^ Cohesive floor plan
^ Convenient location in the community's new government facility
^ Comfortable environment suitable for a 14-hour work day
^ Handicap accessibility
^ Internet connection capability
^ Convenience of immediate assistance from Snowmass Village Clerk personnel during
each election.
5. All other polling places should remain the same.
6. Prior to the Primary Election, notification will be sent to all registered voters in Precinct 6
regarding the new polling place location. In addition, news advertisement and Channel 11 will
. be utilized to inform all Snowmass citizens of the change.
7. Also, per state statute, no later than twenty-five days before the general election, the county
clerk and recorder shall mail a voter information card concerning the general election to all active
eligible electors of the county.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of Pitkin County,
Colorado, that the following polling places be established for the Primary Election on August 12,
