The Board ~of Coun[y'Commissioners of Pitkin County, Colorado, met at 10:00 AM, April 3, 1961, with

- The followingResolution was.adopted:
RESOLUTION
WHEREAS the Board of County Commies Toners of Pitkin County, under date of June 5, 1B$S. passed. and
adopted a comprehensive zoning resolution which has been amended from time [o time and is nor in effect, pro-
' ! viding for zoning regulations and zoning classifications in certain areas of Pitkin County. as shown upon
~. official zoning map, and
BWEREAS the Pitkin County Pla nning and Zoning Committee have recommended the adoption of the Uniforn
~, Building Code to apply to all permitted zoned areas of Pitkin County, and,
WHEREAS a public hearing has been conducted after notice duly published as required by law concerning
~i the adoption of [he proposed Uniform Building Code, at which hearing numerous persona expressed approval and
no person expressed objection,. and the Commissioners have determined that the aoption of ;the Uniform building
code is necessaryfor public health, safety, and general welfare,.and the safety, protection andsanitation of
dwellings, buildings and structures,
NOW, THEREFORE,. be it resolved by,the Board of County-Commissioners of Pitkin Gougty Commissioners
i of Pitkin County, Colorado, that under the power and authority. vested by the provisions of Article 15, Chapter
36, Colorado Revised Statutes of 1953, there is hereby adopted by reference the several conditions, provisions
~, and regulations set forth in the Uniform Building Code, 1958 edition, with amendments thereto, of the
InternationaY Conference of Building Officials viYh the modifications hereinafter enumerated and subject toth~
following terms and conditions:
-...~ 1. The said Uniform Building Code as described above shall be termed and described as "The Building
Code" or "the Code".
2. The Building Code shall hereafter be in full force and effect in all portions of the area zoned
in Pitkin.County, excluding [he City nfdAspen and excluding any areasnotpermitted by Statute to be included.
37 In case of any inconsistency or conflict between [he Building Code and the Zoning Resolution of
Pitkin County. as adopted June 5, 1955, with subsequent amendmenns, then-the Zoning Resolutions with such
amendments shall prevail and be'followed.
~ 4. .For ;the purposes of enforcement and interpretation of [he Building Code, the entire zoned
area of Pitkin County. (exclus ive of the City. of Aspen, and exclua ive of any areas not permitted by,Statute to
be regulated underthe Building Code) is hereby declared to be and there is hereby eatabl fished a Fire District
to be known and designated a@ Fire Zone land Fire Zone 3. Construction in the ~Pire District shall be in
accordance with the requirements fior Fire Zone 2, as provided by the Building .Code, with the exception that
all Group I ;and J occupancies in the Fire. Diatric t,-but not those Located in ;Eames, Conners, Dean's and

5. The following defipitions are hereby adopted and the Building Code shall be ;modified in the -
owing particulars:
(a) City, or "the City" shall mean the zoned area of Pitkin County, exclusive of the City of Aspen.
(b) The "Building Official" shall mean the Building Inspector appointed by the Board of County Commis-
aionera of Pitkin County. --
(d) Permit, or Building Permit, shall mean the permit required to be applied for, which may be granted ~ _. ~.._
under [he provisions of the Zoning Resolution of Pi[kin.Coun[y, together with such additional
requirements and information as may be required under the Building Code.
(e) whenever any fine, forfeiture or other penalties shall be referred to in the Building Code for
violation or non-compliance with the terma[hereof, the penalty, forfeiture, or condition for
enforcement shall be deemed and constued to mean .and be covered by the penalties, forfeitures,
and remedies prescribed by. Statute of [he S[a[e of Colorado for enforcement of County Zoning
Resolutions and Regula[iona sad County. adopted Buidl ing Code.
Stuart Mace appeared before the Commissioners in regard to the condition of the Castle Creek road
cited several conditions which he felt should be remedied and also asked exactly what was Co be done on the
d. Considerable discussion followed and Mr. Mace was advised that inspection would be made and also that
road repairs would be discussed with Mead Harker.
A revised Architect's Contract for [he proposed Pitkin County Library was approved.
Pat Henry appeared before [he Commissioners and requested that a larger oiling program be carried out
the Castle Creek road. Mr. Henry was advised that o11 would be put down to the fullest extent of the County's
anc ial ability.
Upon Motion duly made, seconded and unanimously adopted Orest A. Gerbaz was appointed as a member of
b 20 [o represent Pitkin County.
Sale of salvage bridge material to individuals was discussed and it was determined that the needs.of
..County should definitely be determined before any. of the material is offered Eor sale to individuals.
There being no further business the Board adjourned [o meet April 17 1961.
