The Board of County Commisaionera of.Pitkin County, Colorado, met at 10:00 AM, July }0, 1961 with
the following members present: Chairman: SamuelW. Howell; Commissioners Orest A. Gerbaz and T._S. Sardy;
iCounty Attorney Robert Delaney and Peggy E.Coble, Clerk.
Bills were audited, approved and ordered paid as follows:
~, PUBLIC WELFARE FUND: $1,060.98
OLD AGE PENSION FUND: 4,723.99
HOSPITAL IMPROVEMENT FUND:17,724.20
AOSPITAL FUND: 2,539.78
The Board of County Commissioners met as a County Board of Equalization on July 17, 1961 pursuant
to previous notice and considered the following requeate for abatement:
The request of Etta P.. Taylor, on.the Aspen Bua Station, the. Request of Jerry Hobgood; of Stanley
~~Gleng Allen S. Brown; George Holder; William Dunaway; Robert. Somers; Dr. Robert Barnard; Twin Laken
Feaervoir and. Canal Company; Charles V. Kettering; Marcia Sherman Williams,; Gertrude E. Elder; Mrs. Lee
Sparovic; Sepp Kessler and Vanaon Production Corporation, was considered sad discussed. However, it was
decided by the Commisaionera that the matter should be investigated further and accordingly the Board of
Equalization recessed to meet at a later date.
Thereafter, the Board met as a Board of County Commissioners and the following action was taken:
A notice of re aignation of Aoy Bandy was received from the office of Pitkin County Aasesaor. Upon
motion duly made, seconded and unanimously carried, the re eigaation was accepted. Thereafter, the Comm¢saione~
discussed a eucceeaor to the office of County Assessor, and the following Resolution was upon motion duly made
and seconded unanimously adopted:

AND WHEREAS, the Board of County Commies inners of Pitkin County, Colorado, consider it important
that a.auccessor be. promptly appointed,
NIXq~, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the. BOard of County Commieaionera of Pitkin County, Colorado-,
that the resignation: of Roy W. Bandy as County Aasesaor of Pitkin County, Colorado, is hereby accepted
effective as of the close of business on Suly 17, 1961.
BE IT FURTkIER RESOLVED that Dorothy M. Mikkelaen of Aspen,. Colorado ie hereby appointed as County
Aasesaor of Pitkin County, effective Suly 18, 1961, this appointment. it to be effective upon her taking the
oath~and filing the bonds ae required by statute, said appointment being to fill the office of County Asaeseor
until the next general election and until her eucceeaor is elected and qualified. _
Mr. Aarold Rowland requested the Commissioners to take action concerning the fact that Dean Billings
had closed the road used by the Aapea Skiing-Corporation leading up Aspen Hegatain. It was determined that
thin Woe not on the County system and therefore the County could not act on Che matter.
Notification was received that Judge Clifford H. Darrow had approved appointment of a court reporter
with a salaryof $7,800.00 per year,of which Pitkin Coaaty would pays proportionate part.
- On the recommendation of Mra. Pat Maddaloae, the eleventh payment in the sum of $12,724.20 to R. W.
Mier, general contractor on the hospital was approved.
Mr. Chris Wieben appeared before Che commissioners requeatingoiling on the Snowa~aea Road and was
advised the Commissioners would investigate the matter and would do as much as fiAances would permit, but
could not promise oiling.
There being no further business the Board adjourned to meet August 7, 1961 at 10:00 AM..
