HomeMy WebLinkAboutbocc.min.reg.08181961The Board of County Commissioners of Pitkin County, Colorado, met at 10:00 o'clock AM, August 18,
1961 with the following members present: Chairman Samuel W. Howell; Commissioners Oxest A.Gerbaz and T. J.
Sardy; County Attorney Robert Delaney and Clerk Peggy E. Coble.
Bills were audited, approved and ordered paid from the Various Funds as follows:
OLD AGE PENSION FUND: $4,603.54
PUBLIC WELFARE FUND: 1,271.67
HOSPITAL FUND: 1,929.18
The matter of the City of Aspen's use of streets and roads beyond the City Limits was discussed. It
was reported„that on various occasions excavations had been made is County Ronda without the express
permise ion of the County, and that they were not properly backfilled, smoothed, or otherwise taken care of in
A @%ep@% manner. The Commis aionera directed that a policy be :adopted requiring that County Ronda and Streets
opened by the City be respired and the road restored to its former condition, and the City would be reaponai-
ble for all repairs and damages resulting from its eacavatioae.
After discussion the Commissioners directed that because of traffic hazards and the Hifficutty of em
removal, that "NO PARKING" signs be placed on the Red Mountain Road, effective September 15, 1961, and that
the persona who were parking there, b_ eli,¢ved to be Ned and Geaaldlne Hill, be notified.
It was reported tffiat Mr. 6~~°~`d Flogaus had aditedd that the U. S. Forest Service requires certain
work to be done on the road above Lenado, and that Mr. Flogaus wanted to do Chia work and bill the County. Thi
Chairman was instructed to inform Mr. Flogaus that this would not be authorized.
Mr .. John Doxemus appeared before the Commisaionera to discuss the matter of relocation of the road
leading up Red Mountain. It was suggested that he proceed with the plane and find out the attitude of the
persona affected and again discuss the matter with the Commissioners.
Mr. Clinton B. Stewart, as attorney for Andrew Buesch, appeared before the Co~isaioaera requesting
relocation of the fence constructed by the County around the Ute Cemetery, and was advised that this would
be studie~ further.
Mr. Leon Wurl, City Manager for Aspen, discussed with the Commissioners the greater participation
by [he City in the County Road Funds.
There being no further business the Board adjourned to meet September 5, 1961. ~
