HomeMy WebLinkAboutbocc.res.008.2009 A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF PITHIN COUNTY, COLORADO SUPPORTING THE CURRENT COLORADO AVIATION FUEL SALES TAX STRUCTURE RESOLUTION # ~(~-2009 RECITALS 1. Colorado Revised Statute (C.R.S.) 43-10-1 l0 "Revenue in the Aviation Fund/Disbursements" provides for the distribution of aviation fuel sales taxes in the State of Colorado. 2. Aviation fuel sales tax revenues collected in Colorado are utilized to support the Colorado Discretionary Aviation Grant Program, statewide aviation infrastructure and safety projects, the operational expenses of the Colorado Department of Transportation -Division of Aeronautics, and the operational and capital expenses of Colorado's 74 public use airports. 3. The collection, distribution, and use of Colorado aviation fuel sales tax revenues are a key component of the maintenance, expansion, and overall safety of the State's aviation system. 4. The Colorado aviation system, including airports and statewide aviation infrastructure, is fully self sustaining through the aviation fuel sales tax program, requiring no general funds from the State of Colorado. 5. The State's aviation system is responsible for 340,800 jobs in Colorado, 11.2 billion dollars in payroll, and 32.2 billion dollars of total economic impact, which is critical to Colorado's economy. 6. The elimination, restriction, or reductions to the current Colorado aviation fuel sates tax program will have a debilitating effect on Colorado airports, the Colorado aviation system, and the Colorado Department of Transportation - Division of Aeronautics. NOW THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Board of County Commissioners of Pitkin County Colorado, that the Board does hereby approve this Resolution Supporting the Current Colorado Aviation Fuel Sales Tax Structure.
