39-5-122. Taxpayer's remedies to correct erros. (I) On or before 14fay
24 of each year, the assessor shall dive public notice in at least one issue
of a newspaper published in fits county that beginning on the firs[ working
day of June he wi11'sit to hear all otijectians and, protests concerning vahta-
tions of taaab]e, property determined by him for the current year. 1f tfiei•e
is no such newspaper, then such notice shall be conspicuously posted in the
offices o~ the assessor, thetreasarer, and the county clerk and recorder and
in at least two other public places in the county seat. The assessor shall send
news releases containing such notice to radio stations, telzyision stations. and.
newspapers ofgeneral circulation in the county.
(2) If any person is of the opinion that his property has been valued too
high, or has been, twice valued, or is exempt by law from taxation, or that
he did n~o; own taxable property on the assessment date, or that property
has been erroneously assessed to hirn, he may appear before the assessor
on the days sp°cified in the public notice to present hie ghjection and protest
and be heard. If the assessor finds any valuation to be erronzpus or otherwise
improper, he shall correct such error, but if he declines to change any valua-
f ~m descrbcdhas determined, he shall state his reasons in writing on the
'n section 39-R-106, shatl~insert the information otherwise
required by the form, and shall, on or before. the last regular working day
of the assessor iq June, mail nvo copies of such completed form tq the person
presenting the objection anti protest so denied.
(4) "Ile assessor shall continue his hearings 'from day to day until all
objections and protests have been heard, but all such hearings shall be con-
chided by June 25.

county board of equalization, as provided in article 8 of this title. the assessor
