All persons affected by the proposed z ariance are invited to appear and state their views, protests or objections. If you cannot appear p ersonally at such meeting, then you are urged to state your views by letter, particularly if you have objection to such variance, as the Board of Adjustment will give serious consideration to the opinions of surround- ing property owners and others affected in deciding whether to grant or deny the request for variance. R. 1 Box 164 GLENWOOD SPRINGS, COLORADO 81601 June 19, 1969 Board of Adjustment County of Pitkin Aspen, Colorado 81611 Dear Sirs: Porto-Mix Concrete Inc. at one time had a concrete plant located in the Snow- Mass area on Snowmass American property but have not been successful in locating another site since 1967; the start of the development of the area. We feel there is a need for such a service and will endever to explain wiv• If we may we will list the reasons for this usage and will answer any questions you might have at your hearing. 1. Temporary location. 2. Plant located in a proposed roadway set up by Mr. Fredric Benedict to develop the area. 3. Plant is portable and can be removed at the end of the season if land owners wish this done. 4. Mr. Benedict has provided a waste area for our left over concrete and water. 5. I object to the placement of a commercial enterprise on property originally designated for residential use because of the unsightly appearance, the noise and the addition of cement hauling trucks with an entrance to adjacent roadways. Placement of such a plant will definitely reduce land values. I have located the plant in an area which I have surveyed for an access road to my property and should not interfere with any of my operations. I am considering the conceete plant as an integral part of the building construction which will be taking place on my land next year. Porto-Mix Concrete Inc. will sign a contract to keep this area clean and they understand the plant will be located there only on a temporary basis. I would appreciate your approval.
