OF PITKIN COUNTY, COLORADO,
MODIFYING FEES FOR THE SOLID WASTE CENTER

Recitals
1. Pitkin County wishes to set fees which are consistent and fair to the public, and
which reflect the expenses incurred in providing such services to the public.
2. Certain fees currently charged no longer reflect the requirements of Colorado
state law, or do not adequately encourage the separation of compostable lumber waste from the
waste stream.
3. The Board of County Commissioners has determined that it is in the best interest
of the citizens of Pitkin County to provide additional support to Valley Resource Management to
assist in regional solid waste management planning and education.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of County Commissioners of
Pitkin County, Colorado that the following modifications to PITKIN COUNTY SOLID WASTE
CENTER TIP FEE SCHEDULE, most recently adopted in Ordinance #97-50, be adopted,
effective July 1, 1998:
Compactor trucks
(unsorted)
All other trucks and trailers
(unsorted)
Landscape debris
(unsorted rock, soil & brush)
Useable rock and soil
$40 per ton*
$21 per cubic yard**
$16 per cubic yard**
$2 per cubic yard**
Nonhazardous latex paint $2 per gallon or $75 per 55 gallon drum
(commercial and institutional generators only)
Lumber $6 per cubic yard
* plus $0.67 per ton for Hazardous Substance Response Fund and $0.33 for Valley Resource
Management
* plus $0.20 per cubic yard for Hazardous Substance Response Fund and $0.10 per cubic yard
for Valley Resource Management
THIS ORDINANCE SHALL BECOME EFFECTIVE 30 DAYS AFTER PUBLICATION FOLLOWING
ADOPTION BY THE BOARD
