OF PITKIN COUNTY, COLORADO RE-APPOINTING THE
PITKIN COUNTY PUBLIC HEALTH ADVOCATE
RESOLUTION NUMBER- ~ ~ ~ ,2009
Recitals
1. Pitkin County is known nationally as a progressive county that supports
envirorunental and public health causes; and,
2. There is a need for rural county representation on national public health policy
and funding committees; and,
3. Thomas Dunlop has successfully represented Pitkin County on many federal
committees during his tenure as Public Health Advocate from May, 2002 to the
present; and,
4. Pitkin County wishes to resume a qualified presence on the national level in order
to stay active in federal public health policy initiatives; and,
5. Thomas Dunlop wishes to represent small rural health needs and issues on
national public health policy committees as a volunteer but cannot do so without a
formal relationship to a local government; and,
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of
Pitkin County, Colorado:
1. Thomas Dunlop is appointed as the Pitkin County Public Health Advocate
for a term of one year.
2. Thomas Dunlop will report his activities to and look for direction from the
Health and Human Services Director in order to align organizational foci
and workloads.
3. Thomas Dunlop will attend quarterly meetings with Pitkin County public
health staff in order to share with and coach staff about issues of national
policy and program development as well as to help him gather feedback
about the challenges of meeting national public health policy and program
standards in a rural community.
4. Thomas Dunlop will participate in national public health policy
committees to represent the issues and needs of small rural counties.
