Vos Caudill, Pitkin County, CO RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMIjSIONERS OF PITKIN COUNTY, COLORADO, DIRECTING STAFF TO CONTINUE TO ALLOW SEASONAL PARKING ON UPPER WOODY CREEK ROAD FOR PUBLIC ACCESS TO UNITED STATES FOREST SERVICE LANDS DURING THE 2009 -2010 WINTER SEASON RESOLUTION NO. Q 'F3 -2009 WHEREAS, maintaining access to public land is important to the residents and visitors of Pitkin County. WHEREAS, the public has, for a long period of time, parked along certain areas of the Upper Woody Road near Lenado when accessing public lands during the winter months. The Board has in held numerous public hearings in an effort to evaluate alternative courses of action for v allowing parking in this area. The Board has sought to address both the need to provide for multiple uses of public lands and the privacy, safety and other concerns of Lenado residents. WHEREAS, the areas historically tilized for parking and one -lane road segments of Wood Y p g g y Creek Road will be appropriately signed and monitored for compliance to promote public safety. WHEREAS, the 2009/2010 winter season will provide an opportunity to gather parking demand and road accident data, monitor use, and compliance in this area, and observe problems in order to develop additional recommendations for the Woody Creek Caucus, the Planning and Zoning Commission and the Board of County Commissioners (`BOCC ") to consider. y4 WHEREAS, pursuant to § 30 -28 -110, C.R.S., the Pitkin County Planning and Zoning Commission ( "P &Z ") considered this matter at a duly- noticed public hearing on November 3, 2009, and has communicated its decision and reasoning to the BOCC. The BOCC has considered the decision and reasoning of the P &Z. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of Pitkin County, Colorado that the Board directs Staff to continue to allow seasonal parking in an area 475 lineal feet in length in the location shown on Exhibit A. The Board approves the reduction of Upper Woody Creek Road to one -lane in the vicinity of the parking area.
