GENERAL NOTES:
1. THE OWS SYSTEM AS SHOWN ON THE PLAN AND THE DETAILS WERE
DESIGNED BY SOPRIS ENGINEERING. THE EXISTING LOT CONDITIONS
AND SURVEY INFORMATION WAS PROVIDED FROM A SURVEY
BY ASPEN SURVERY ENGINNERS.

ISDS SYSTEM NOTES
1. ADD A TWO-WAY CLEAN OUT ON THE SERVICE LINE FROM THE HOUSE.
2. ALL MATERIALS AND INSTALLATION SHALL CONFORM TO PITKIN COUNTY
INDIVIDUAL SEWAGE DISPOSAL SYSTEM (ISDS) REGULATIONS.
3. ALL SEWER LINES TO BE SDR -35 OR SCHEDULE 40 P.V.C. PIPE UNLESS
NOTED OTHERWISE.
4. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL ENSURE ALL SEWER LINES AND SEPTIC TANKS
ARE WATERTIGHT. ANY POTENTIAL PLUMBING LEAKS SHALL BE
REPAIRED TO AVOID EXCESSIVE WATER ENTERING THE SEPTIC SYSTEM.
5. IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE CONTRACTOR TO CONTACT ALL
UTILITY COMPANIES FOR FIELD LOCATIONS OF UTILITIES PRIOR TO
CONSTRUCTION AND EXCAVATION.
6, THE ABSORPTION FIELD MUST BE MARKED AND PROTECTED TO
PREVENT DAMAGE FROM VEHICULAR AND LIVESTOCK TRAFFIC.
7. THE TANK SHALL BE INSTALLED LEVEL ON COMPACTED EARTH. INSTALL
WATERTIGHT RISERS AS NECESSARY TO BRING ALL REQUIRED ACCESS
POINTS TO THE FINISHED SURFACE GRADE.
INSTALL THE INLET AND OUTLET TEES TO BE EASILY INSPECTED AND
MAINTAINED FROM THE TANK RISERS AND ACCESS LIDS.
8. THE ENTIRE ABSORPTION FIELD SURFACE MUST BE SODDED OR
RE -VEGETATED WITH GROUND COVER,
9. THE ABSORPTION FIELD SURFACE MUST BE GRADED TO DIVERT
SURFACE DRAINAGE AWAY FROM THE FIELD.
10. THE DIMENSIONS SHOWN ON THE PLAN INDICATE MINIMUM AREA AND
SEPARATION DISTANCES FOR THE ABSORPTION FIELD.
11. THE FIELD SHALL BE LEVEL AND PLUMBED FOR EQUAL
DISTRIBUTION. THE ADDITIONAL ABSORPTION FIELD AREA TO BE
INSTALLED ADJACENT TO THE EXISTING FIELD AT THE SAME LEVEL.
12. THE MINIMUM DEPTH OF GRAVEL TO BE 12" OR MATCH EXISTING FIELD IF
GREATER. THE UPGRADIENT SLOPE ADJACENT TO THE FIELD TO BE
GRADED TO DIVERT POTENTIAL RUNOFF AWAY FROM THE FIELD.
13. THE PIPE AND GRAVEL BED WILL BE BACKFILLED WITH EXCAVATED
MATERIAL VOID OF ROCKS, THE BACKFILL MATERIAL SHALL NOT EXCEED
2 1/2" DIAMETER AND SHALL BE PLACED TO AT LEAST 6 INCHES ABOVE
THE TOP OF THE GRAVEL. THE TOP OF THE PLACED GRAVEL DISTRIBUTION
LAYER SHALL BE COVERED WITH A LAYER OF FILTER FABRIC. A
MINIMUM 4" DEPTH OF TOPSOIL IS TO BE PLACED ABOVE THE BACKFILL
TO THE SURFACE. THE EXISTING FIELD GRAVEL SHALL BE REPLACED AS
NEEDED IF CONTAMINATION BY EXCAVATED BACKFILL OCCURS.
14. VERTICAL INSPECTION PORTS SHALL BE INSTALLED FROM THE ENDS OF
THE PERFORATED DISTRIBUTION PIPE INSTALLED IN THE NEW ABSORPTION
AREA. (TYP. EACH END). AN ADDITIONAL INSPECTION PORT TO BE
INSTALLED AT THE HEAD OF THE OPPOSITE SIDE OF THE FIELD.
15, THE CONDITION OF THE EXISTING FIELD TO BE INSPECTED DURING
INSTALLATION OF NEW DISTRIBUTION LINES TO THE HEAD OF EACH
EXISTING PERFORATED DISTRIBUTION PIPE.
DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM NOTES:
1. AN EFFLUENT FILTER SHALL BE INSTALLED,QAI- THE...DISCHARE TEE
IN THE SECONDARY COMPARTMENT OF THE.,1000 GAL+ SEPTIC TANK.
FILTERED EFFLUENT WILL DISCHARGE TO A DISTRIBUTION BOX.
EFFLUENT WILL BE EQUALLY DISTRIBUTED TO THE ABSORPTION
BED'S PERFORATED DISTRIBUTION PIPES VIA INDIVIDUAL 4" DISTRIBUTION
LINES.
2. WE RECOMMEND THE INSTALLATION OF AN ORENCO SYSTEMS 4"
EFFLUENT FILTER CONTAINED IN A 4" BAFFLE OUTLET TEE.
THE FILTER SHOULD BE INSPECTED EVERY SIX MONTHS.
MAINTENANCE SHALL INCLUDE CLEANING THE FILTER EVERY SIX
MONTHS MINIMUM AND AFTER PERIODIC PUMPING OF THE TANK.
3. THE DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM SHALL DISTRIBUTE FLOW EVENLY TO
EACH BED ROW. THE MINIMUM SLOPE OF THE
DISCHARGE LINE FROM THE TANK TO THE DISTRIBUTION BOX
SHALL SHALL BE INSTALLED AT A MINIMUM 2% SLOPE. THE
INDIVIDUAL DISTRIBUTION LINES SHALL BE INSTALLED AT A
MINIMUM OF 2% SLOPE.
4. ALL DISTRIBUTION PIPING, CONNECTIONS AND FITTINGS SHALL BE
TIGHT AND INSTALLED TO INSURE EQUAL DISTRIBUTION
THROUGH THE SYSTEM.
ADDITIONAL NOTES:
1. THE PERFORATED DISTRIBUTION LINES IN THE MOUND NEED TO
BE LAID IN A 12" LAYER OF WASHED GRAVEL WITH DIAMETERS
BETWEEN 0.75" AND 1.5".
2. THE PERFORATED PIPES NEED TO BE LAID WITH THE TOP OF PIPE
2" BELOW THE TOP OF THE GRAVEL LAYER AND WITH AT LEAST
6" OF GRAVEL BELOW THE BOTTOM OF THE PIPES.
3. A MINIMUM OF 2' OF SUITABLE ONSITE MATERIAL, NEEDS TO BE
PLACED BELOW THE GRAVEL DISTRIBUTION LAYER IF LARGE
BOULDERS ARE ENCOUNTERED THAT NEED TO BE REMOVED..
4 THE DISTRIBUTION BOX WILL BE INSTALLED TO INSURE EQUAL
DISTRIBUTION TO THE BED'S PERFORATED DISTIBUTION PIPES.
WE RECOMMEND THE INSTALLATION OF AN ORNECO SYSTEMS FLOW
SPLITTER BASIN WITH THE RISER EXTENDING TO THE SURFACE.
5. GRAVEL AND FILL MATERIALS TO BE APPROVED BY THE ENGINEER.
