COMMISSIDNERS RECOGNIZING THE
PROFESSIONAL AND V�L UNTEER TEAMS INVOL VED IN LOCAL
SEARCH AND RESCUE MISSIONS
WHEREAS, �ecent high profile 'sea�ch and rescue missions in the
Roa�ing Fork Valley exemplify the b�eadth of expe�ience and
p�ofessionalism that can be found among a highly-trained and passionate
pool of fi�st �esponders, sea�ch and rescue volunteers, firefighte�s,
helicopter pilots, and involved citizens; and� �
WHEREAS, when these special individuals are called upon, usually
on a moment's notice, they often take tremendous �isks to t� y to save a life o�
find a missing pe�son; and
WHEREAS, while there a�e many happy endings to local search and
�escue missions the�e a�e also many t�agic incidents that take a huge toll on
the pe�sonnel involved — eve�yone from the helicopter pilot to the first
climbe�s to �each a victzm o� the search volunteer that comes home empty
handed day after day, ' week after week; and
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT PROCLAIMED, that the Pitkin County
Commissione�s wish to recognize the he�oes in our community who combine
their expe�ience with professionaZism and compassion and who are "there"
for all of us should we have a mishap in the backcountry.
