Aspen Airport Runway Improvements
Report on Website Plans and Cost Estimates
4.19.11
Background
As you know, the original intent of the aspenairportplanning.com website was for more of a static site.
But as our needs evolve, it has become a dynamic site and the code wasn't originally written for the uses
we now have for the site. All that means is that we have to investigate the options for changing the
code to accommodate our current needs.
Along that line, we have researched ad found a specialist in Joomla, the Client Management System
used for the backend coding of our site. We have spent time getting hIm up to speed on the technical
aspects of the website and he has already made the most recent website changes. At our request, he
has been reviewing the site to determine what changes the backend allows ad how much time it will

take to incorporate new features. The following is our understanding of the changes you would like to
see and estimates for doing so.
Proposed Plans — Maintenance Required
Overview of Plpns
a. We would add or change content (copy and/or photos) of the website every two weeks to
incorporate runway construction projects.
b, Dedicate one of the Homepage Slideshow Announcements to runway improvements,
c. Cink the More Info button on the Homepage Slideshow to the Projects tab/Runway
Improvements).
d. Content information and photos would all be provided by Dave Ulane and airport staff.
Specific changes Planned
1. Add copy on latest construction project to the Homepage Slideshow.
2. On the Projects tab/Runway Improvements - linked from the Homepage slideshow
announcement - add more detailed information about the construction project.
3. Add a news release on the latest construction project to the News page once a month.
4. Add or change a photo on the Homepage slideshow.
5. Add new photos to the Projects/Runway Improvements page.
6. Add a summary of new construction projects on the Arojects tab/Construction with a More info
link back to the Project Page Runway Improvements, Could also link from the Construction page
to the News page.
7. Post a document on the Projects/Runway Improvements page of the monthly updates to County
Commissioners. (Or this could go on the Documents page.)
8. Add a subscribe link to "Join our mailing list".
Proposed Plans — Custom Coding
1. Compress copy on the Runway Improvements page — condense the existing copy into each
existing section (i.e., eackground, Improvements, eenefits, etc) so when the title is clicked on, it
would expand to reveal the copy (just like the existing four projects do on the Projects PageJ.
2. Create a photo gallery. This could take several different forms. We can create a new tab in the
navigation bar from the Homepage. To tie the photos more to the Projects, it might be better to
add a"Photos" page on the Projects tab, so that the pages woutd be Runway Improvements,
Master Plan Update, Sustainability Program, Construction Projects, and Project Photos.
On that photo page, we suggest having a grid of thumbnafis that open as you move your cursor
over each one,
