and public health gains to Pitkin County
through the combined efforts of all
are monumental.

Internal Auditor Kleeman was instructed to
contact County Surveyor, Harold Johnson to de-
termine if the North Thompson Creek road is
a county road. `ur
The next matter to come before the Board of
Pitkin County Commissioners was a letter receiv-
ed from the Board of County Commissioners of
Ouray County, Colorado requesting a resolution
regarding declassification of the Uncompahgre
Primitive area. Upon motion duly made and sec-
onded the following resolution was unanimously
approved:'

,PPioveD WHEREAS the Uncompahgre Primitive
Area is presently under consideration
/1 - Alt for designation as a Wilderness Area,
AND WHEREAS the land involved is
inappropriate for wilderness purposes,
since the land is already extensively
used by man,
AND WHEREAS a Wilderness designa-
tion would work a hardship on the local
economies of Ouray, San Miguel, and
San Juan Counties since activities
which provide employment and revenue
for the aforementioned Counties would W
be curtailed,
AND WHEREAS, the proposed Wilder-
ness Area designation would limit the
number of people who could use and
enjoy the area,
AND WHEREAS the County Commiss-
