HomeMy WebLinkAboutbocc.min.reg.01141947 173 January 14, 1947 The Board of County Commissioners of Pitkin County, Colorado, met at 10:00 A.f[.,Tuesday January 14, 1947, according to law, for the purpose of finishing all uncompleted business for the expiring year and terms of officers. There were present Orest A. Gerbaz, Chairman; George W. Smith, Commissioner; Clarence 0. Guam, Commissioner; M. M. Neihardt, Clerk. The following bills were audited approved and ordered paid from funds as follows: Ordinary Fund State Association of Co. Commissioners, Dues 130.00 • Mt. States Tel & ,_e1 Co., Phones 24.65 • State Special Road Fund H.W.Moore T.1uipment Co., tarts 77.08 Power Equipment Co., Parts 15.95 The minutes of the meeting held January 6, 1947 were read and approved. The Account of the County Treasurer as to warrants paid during the semi -annual period July 1, 1946 to December 31, 1946 was examined, warrants checked and found correct. The Duly Elected and (aualified members of the Board of County Commissioners of Pktkin • Coihnty, Colorado, met at 2:00 P. Ii., Tuesday, January 14, 1947, as follows: District No. 1, George W. Smith, elected in 1944 for term of four years and duly qualified; District No. 2, Orest A. Gerbaz, elected in 1944 for term of four years and duly qualified; District No. 3, ,Clarence 0. ( elected in 1946 for term of four years. The Clerk presented a Bond in the amount of ; given by said Clarence 0. Guam as Principal and The Columbia Casualty Co., as Surety and approved by Non. John R. Clark, Judge of the Ninth Judicial District as to form and sufficiency. Mr. uerbaz, the Chairman of the retiring Board of County Commissioners acted as Temporary Chairman and declared nominations in order for a Chairman of the Board for the year 1947. Mr. Clarence 0. Guam was nominated and elected. Mr. James B. Bray made application for the Office of Justice of the Peace of Justice Precinct No. 1 of Pitkin County, none having been elected at the preceding election in Novem- bat of 1946. On motion, duly made, seconded and carried, he was unanimously elected. The following Public Official Bonds were presented, examined and approved as to form and • sufficiency: Otto Johnson in the sum of ,,35,000.00 -- by him and National Surety Corporation M. M. eihardt in the sum of ••5,000.00 by him and National Surety Corporation Ebert Kling in the sum of X5,000.00 by him and Motional Surety Corporation Ebert Kling (State Bond) 0_,000.00 by him and National Surety Corporation Lettie Lee Brand in sum of • by her and National Surety Corporation The following were re- elected as Road Overseers: 'To serve during pleasure of the Board John Snyder, at and near Aspen John C. Skiff, at and near Aspen Claude Crowley, at and near Meredith Roy 'whi.tbeck, at and near Carbondale in Pitkin County Renewals of the bonds of John Snyder, Claude Crowley and Roy Whitbeck were presented. The bond of John C. Skiff expires later in the yoar. Dr. Allen L. Cochrane was re- elected as County Physician at a salary of •,400.00 . per annum, to serve during the pleasure of the Board. • Lr. C. 11. Darrow was re- elected as County Attorney at a salary of ..;1600.00 per annum to serve during the pleasure of.the Hoard. On notion made, seconded and carried, the salariepi of the deputies in the offices of County Clerk and flecorder, County Treasurer and County Assessor were each set at ;;125.00 per month. The following named Deputies appointed by the respective officers• were approved, each to be paid the sum of 0_25.00 per month: Deputy County Clerk and "ecorder William C. Stapleton Deputy County Treasurer Thomas F. Beck • Deputy County Assessor Warren J. Conner the bond of James E. Bray given by him as Principal and the Columbia Casualty as Surety in the amount of qe1,000.O0 was approved as to form and sufficiency. All the above named officers had previously taken their respective oaths of office. Bills were audited approved and ordered paid as follows: ORDINARY FUND M. M.
