The Board of County Commissioners of Pitkin County met at Q :290 P. M., Friday, September
26, 1947, with the following members present: George W. Smith,; Orest A. Gerbaz; C. 0.
Quam, Chairman and M. M. A eihardt, Clerk.
The Chairman stated that the meeting had been called to open bids which had been adver-
tised for in the Aspen Times, to repair the roof of the Court House.
One bid was presented from Roy McIntosh as follows:
Thick Butt Shingles for slopes 665.00
Paint for Flat Deck 40.80
Nails 17.50
Hips, Ridges, Valleys & Chimney Backs 8.50
Plastic Cement for Flashing 5.00
Labor 350.00
Total 1,068.80
After much explanation on the part of Mr. McIntosh and discussion on the part of the
Board, motion was made, seconded and carried that the contract be let to Mr. McIntosh as
outlined above, provided the work could be begun soon and finished with reasonable dispatch. ,
Work subject to the approval of the Board.

Mr. Robert C. Crowley and Mr. Frank C. Lacy of the Veterans Bureau were present and
explained aims of the Veteran'd Bureau and solicited the assistance and co- operation of
the Board, which was freely prom Mr. M. G. Conner, Service Officer for Pitkin County II
was also present and received ? ' *ruotion. The Board was ddvised that a check would soon
be sent in payment of part of.Ser4ice Officer's salary in the amount of $50.00 per month
beginning July 1, 1947.
The Board agreed to pay the necessary expenses of the Service Officer, M. G. Conner, to
a meeting of the Veteran's Bureau officials and Service Officers of Colora do, to be held
in Denver Oct. 20 -25, Inc.
