The Board of County Commissioners of Pitkin County, Colorado, met at 10:00 A. M., Monda
October 6, 1947 stxfls 1, with the following members present: Clarence 0. Quam, Chairman;
George W. Smith, Commissioner; Orest A. Gerbaz, Commissioner; C. H. Darrow, County Attoreny
M. M. Neihardt, Clerk.
The minutes of the meetings held September 18, 1947 and September 26, 1947 were read
and approved.
The following offers for tax sale certificates and taxes up to and including 1946 were
accepted: 21.00 on Cert 66 og 1932 for 1931 on 17/32 Dauntless Lode Columbia 7666.
21.00 on Cert 25 of 1929 for 1930 on 15/32 Dauntless Lode Columbia 7666.
The following offers for tax sale certificates and taxes up to and including 1945 were
received and ordered published:
30.00 on S. 2/3 of Lots A,B,C, Block 20 Aspen
$20.00 on N. 1/3 of Lots A,B,C, Block 20, Aspen
$150.00 on Lots K, L. M. N, 0, Block 99, Aspen
Commissioners Quam and Smith were authorized and empowered to secure a 68 -Ft. Right of
Way through the lands of H. H. McCutchen, together with all of his land North of said Right
of Way if possible. If they should fail to agree with Mr. McCutchen, the County Attorney
was instructed to proceed with Condemnation Proceedings for said Right of Way.
The County Treasurer was authorized and instructed to transfer the sum% of $4000.00
from the State Special Road Fuhd to the Special Roads (Highway) Fund.
The reports of the County Judge, Clerk of the District Court and County Clerk for
September 1947 were received.
Many complaints about the bridge across Avalanche Creek were received.Filed. (Refers
to the bridge near the land of H H McCutchen -- above - -)
It was agreed to authorize a Pitkin County double page in the National County Officers
Magazine at a cost of $125.00 plus additional for cuts.
The County Attorney was instructed to prepare a Vacation Notice to Mr. Chas F. Garling'on,
notifying him of termination of rental agreement for the small room in the Court House
between the County Clerk's Office and the Commissioners Room, as of November 1, 1947.
Said letter was to be prepared and submitted to the Chairman for his signature attested by
the Clerk. On Motion said Lease was terminated as of November 1 and Chairman authorized to
sign such notice.
Notice received from the Public Utilities Commission that the effective date of discon
tinuance of passenger, baggage and express service between Glenwood Springs and Aspen on th.
D & R G W RR, was suspended for 120 flays, or from Oct 8, 1947 to February 5, 1948.
Bills were audited, approved and ordered paid from various funds as follows:
