December 1, 1947.
The Board of County Commissioners of Pitkin County, Colorado, met at 10 :00 A. M., Monda
December 1, 1947, with the following members present: Ularence 0. Quasi, Chairman; George W.
Smith, Commissioner; Orest A. Gerbaz, Commissioner; C. H. Darrow, County Attorney; M. M.
Neihardt, Clerk.
The minutes of the meeting held December 18 & 19, were read and approved.
The following offers for tax sale certificates at were accepted:
$50.00 on Cert 344 of 1910 for 1908 In on Lot P, Block 53 (Jane Garrison)
$25.00 on Cert 99 of 1927 for 1926 on Lot 37, Block 90, Hallam (W. R. Shaw)
The application of The Four Seasons Club for renewal of license to sell Wine, Beer and
Spirituous liquors at the Newman Bungalows South of Aspen was approved.
The application of The Aspen Skiing Corporation to sell 3.2 beer at the Sundeck South
of Aspen, having been previously made, a date for the consideration thereof having been set
on this date, proof having been submitted that the application had been properly advertised
according to law, no objection appearing, the same was approved.
The Clerk was instructed to write LaVerne Marshall relative to his application for the
position as Road Overseer 6n Highway 133 and the Crystal River District, that no change in
Road Overseer was contemplated.
The reports of the Clerk of the District Court, County Judge and County Clerk for
November 1947 were received.
Mr. C. H. Darrow was elected as County Attorney for the year 1948 at a Salary of §75.00
per month, effective January 1, 1948 and continuing during the pleasure of the Board.
The clerk was instructed to send Walter Haug a bill as follows:
11 Hr. Rental of Tractor at $6.00 per hour 66.00
Leas Salary of Driver 11/8 of $7.00 9.63 56.37
Bills were audited, approved and ordered paid from various funds as follows:

The following resolution was adopted:
RESOLUTION OF RESPECT
WHEREAS, The Supreme Governor of the affairs of men has deemed the labors of one of his serv: is
sufficient, has audited his accounts and found that his books are in balance, and has summon :d
to a deserved rest JEREMIE J. GERBAZ
WHEREAS, Pitkin County, Colorado, and the people thereof, are greatly indebted to the said
Jeremie,J. Gerbaz for the loyal, patriotic and unstinted labors he has wrought as a citizen
and as a member of TheBoard of County Commissioners of this County
WHEREAS, his services to this County did not cease when he had worn down his own powers of
physical endurance, hut continues on to this day in a like service on the part of his son,
the present member of this Board, Orest A. "erbaz
WHEREAS, The work of the present Board of County Commissioners consists largely of building
upon the foundation which he and his associates have laid
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, By the Board of County Commissioners of Pitkin County, Colorado, hat
thanks be hereby expressed to Almighty God that he has given to Pitkin County the services,
the abilities and the character of the said Jeremie J. Gerbaz from which the County and the
people thereof have derived so much benefit; and, although the work which he started is bein.;
carried on with success, this Board acknowledges that a great part of any success they may
have is due to the labors of him and his associates
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be spread upon the minutes of this
meeting of the Board of County Commissioners and a copy be delivered to the widow of our de-
parted friend, with the hope that it may be of some comfort to her and to her family in this
time of bereavement. Unanimously adopted by the Board of County Commissioners of Pitkin County,
