The Board of County Commissioners of Pitkin County, Colorado, met at 10 :00 A. M., Monday
April 5, 1948, with the following members present: Orest A. Gerbaz, Chairman; George W.
Smith, Commissioner; Clarence 0. Quam, Commissioner; C. H. Darrow, County Attorney; Wm C.
Stapleton, Clerk.
Minutesof the meeting held March 18, 1948, were read and approved.
The Deed from Pitkin County to Tony Vedic made pursuant to the resolution of this Board
on September 2, 1947 having been issued for a greater amount of ground than Pitkin County
had any bAaim upon and a consideration of $240.00 having been accepted in payment therefor,
resolution was offered and motion made that the county accept a quit claim deed from
Antonia Vedic, sole heir at law of the said Tony Vedic, for that part of the property de-
scribed in said Deed to the said Tony Vedic upon which County had no claim; and that a refund
be made by said County to said Antonia Vedic Emmckkaxgsaa [gragfskausakaxgsalt# proportionally for
the acreage returned. Motion carried.
The reports of the County Clerk, Clerk of the District Court and County Judge, received.
Motion made seconded and carried that the sum of 0250.00 be allowed Chas E. Fifield,
President Aspen Lions Club to be used for advertising on the part of the Federation of Inter
national Skiing, to be taken from Advertising Fund.
The amount of $6,297.58 having been received from the State of Colorado for Forest
Apportionment to Pitkin County, on motion made, seconded and carried, the said sum was
apportioned as follows:
95% or $5,982.70 to General School Fund
5% or $ 314.88 to State Special Road Fund
On Motion made seconded and carried the following scale of wages for road workers was
adopted, thereby rescinding all previous rates:
Overseers $7.50 per day
All Others 7.00 per day.
The term of George Letey as a Director of the Pitkin County Hospital, having expired the
second Tuesday in January 1948, he was re- elected to succeed himself, with term to end the
second Tuesday in January 1953.
Frank J. Willoughby having resigned as Director of the Pitkin County Hospital, on account
of being dis- qualified by his election as Alderman for the City of Aspen, Mr. Mike Marolt
was elected to succeed him for the remainder of the term ending the second Tuesday in Januar,
1951. -
Laurent Arbaney having resigned as Director of Pitkin County Hospital, on account of his
having moved from the County, Mr. Justin Cerise was elected to succeed him for the remain-
der of the term ending the second Tuesday in January 1949.
Mr. Leonis Usel, representative of Pitkin County on the Colorado River Water Conservation
Board, made.:a comprehensive and instructive report on the actions of said Board. 1
The attention of the Clerk was called to the fact that in the last published proceedings 1
the payment of $3,000.00 to the Power Equipment Co., was listed as "Parts" whereas it should
have been "payt" on Maintainer- -this being the final payment thereon.
Bills were audited, approved and ordered paid from various funds as follows:
