Board
The Bait of County Commissioners of Pitkin County met at 10 :00 A. M., Monday July 19,
1948, with the following members present: 0rest A. Gerbaz, Chairman; George W. Smith, Commiss oner;
Clarence 0. Quam, Commissioner; M. M. Neihardt Clerk.
The meeting was declared to be concurrently a meeting of the Board of County Commission
I ers and a meeting of the Pitkin County Board of Equalization.
Mrs. John I Beckerman made complaint that Lots F & G in Block 98 was assessed at $40.0 ,
and as in the City of Aspen, whereas it is outside the City limit. The County Assessor,
being present agreed to assess at out -of- the - city rate, leaving the valuation the same. This
satisfied the claimant.
The mtnutes of the meeting of the Board of County Commissioners held on July 6, 1948;
were read and approved.
Mr. C. H. Elliott presented the matter of the purchase of tax sale certificate on
Lots A & B in Block 84, Aspen, whereas he received certificate for only tits a part thereof.
The matter was laid on the table until the meeting of August 2 when the County Attorney will
be present, at which time an arrangement can be made.
The sale of tax sale certificate on the Jote Smith Lode on July 6, was by motion inter-
preted to mean all taxes on all outstanding certificates on said claim. It was meant to
cover the delinquent taxes on all, to which the Treasurer would add his fees for the certif-
icates and the full current tax.
It was agreed to employ James C. Hiatt to microfilm the Abstract books of Lodes, Farm
Lands (Township books) and City Block Books as well as current land and real estate instru-
ments for the past 20 years at a cost of approximately $270.00.
The Clerk was instructed to send such of the Abstract books as needed it to C. F. Hoeckel
Blank Book and Litho Co., for re- binding, just as soon as the micro-films returned and were
found to be in good shape,
The Clerk was authorized to rent a safety box in the Pitkin County Bank for the keeping
of the films and for other things which should be so secured. Box to be in name either of
the County Clerk or County Treasurer.
No further business appearing the Board adjourned subject to call should further business
arise as a Board of Equal z :tion.
