DESCRIPTION OF ISSUE
:
Attached is a resolution approving the membership of theRural Resort Regional (RRR)
Workforce Investment Board of Directors.The Workforce Investment Board was established in
1998 under the Workforce Investment Act. It is used to plan and implement a system to help
local job seekers obtain the skills they need to gain and maintain employment for sustainable
self-sufficiency. Rob Ittner and Nan Sundeen’sappointmentwerediscussed by the Board at a
work session onJanuary 3rd, 2012and aPitkin County resolutionwas approvedon January 11.
The Rural Resort Workforce Board is asking for their resolution (attached) to be approvedon
April 11.
There is also a letter designating the following three appointments which is also required by the
Workforce Investment Act:
1.Appointment of Rob Ittner to the RRR Investment Board
2.Designation of Karen Stiegelmeier, Summit County, to serve as Chief Local Elected
Official (LEO)
3.Approval of the Appointment of the State of Colorado Department of Labor and
Employment as the sole operator of the Workforce Centers in the five county Rural
Resort Region.
LINK TO STRATEGIC PLAN: -
Regionalism Pitkin County will work with citizens and
groups and other jurisdictions in order to identify a shared vision for the region and to promote
collaboration.
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Motion to approve membership of the Rural Resort Workforce
and the three appointments required by the Workforce Investment Act listed above.

A RESOLUTION OF THEPITKIN COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
APPROVINGAPPOINTMENTS OF MEMBERS TOTHE RURAL RESORT REGIONAL
WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENTBOARD.
WHEREAS,Eagle, Garfield, Lake, Pitkin and Summit counties havepreviouslyagreed to be the Rural
Resort Workforce Development Region for local service delivery, planning and administrative purposes
of the One-Stop system; and
WHEREAS, the counties identified above have previously established the Rural Resort Regional
Workforce DevelopmentBoard; and
WHEREAS, it is necessary for the counties to annually appoint members to the Rural ResortRegional
WorkforceDevelopment Board to ensure that the responsibilities outlined in the Rural Resort Region's
workforce development plan are carried out; and
NOW THEREFORE, be it resolved that:
1.The following named individuals are hereby appointed to serve on the Rural Resort Region
Workforce Development Boardfor 2012, in addition to any other members that may need to be
appointed by the Board itself during 2012.

representative on the Board of Local Elected Officials for the Colorado Rural Workforce
Consortium, as authorized and required by the Workforce Investment Act.
