WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners
has been requested by the Snowmass Water and Sanitation
District to submit an application for water and sanitary
sewer planning certification, and
WHEREAS, it is the policy of the Board of County
Commissioners that:
1. A county wide water and sewer plan is
recognized as a necessary tool to guide
development in the best interest of
health, safety and welfare of the citizens
of Pitkin County,
2. The formation of multiplicity of addit-
ional water and sewer districts is dis-
couraged to avoid unnecessary public cost
incurred by duplication of authority
and facilities,
3. A consolidation of existing water and
sanitation districts is encouraged where
feasible to improve boundaries of
service areas,
4. The responsibility for meeting water
and sewer certification requirements
should be shared by all affected water
and sanitation districts and other
agencies,
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board
hereby authorized submission of a certification application
for water and sanitary sewer planning.
