The next matter to come before the Board of County
Commissioners was the matter of a request on the part of the
Aspen Valley Ambulance Association, Inc. , for funding in the
amount of $1,000.00 to help defray a portion of the expenses of
operation of the ambulance service in Pitkin County for the period

of May 1 through July 31, 1972.
Mr. George Madsen, an officer and director of the Asso-
ciation, was present and made the presentation on behalf of the
service. A full discussion was held, and based upon the following

preambles, and upon motion and duly made, seconded and unanimously
approved the following resolution of this Board was adopted:
WHEREAS, for the last 3 months prior to the date here-
of, the Aspen Valley Ambulance Association, Inc. , a non-profit
Colorado corporation, has provided ambulance service to the upper
portions of Pitkin County, Colorado, and
WHEREAS, that service has proved suitable and workable
and has been favorablly received by the residents served by it,
and
WHEREAS, the individuals who have been active in the
rejuvenation and operation of the ambulance service through the
Aspen Valley Ambulance Association, Inc. , deserve commendation,
land
WHEREAS, it is recognized that to a certain extent, for
the present, it will be necessary for governmental entities in
Pitkin County to assist in funding the service, and '—
NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved that Pitkin County
grant to the Aspen Valley Ambulance Association, Inc. , the sum of
$1,000.00 for assistance to that non-profit corporation in the
operation of its ambulance service in the upper portions of Pitkir.
County, Colorado, said amount being for good and valuable services
rendered to the County for the period of May 1, 1972 to July 31,
1972, and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, the this Board do and does here-
commend the efforts of the officers, directors and employees of
ie Aspen Valley Ambulance Association, Inc. , and encourage the
continued operation of the service being performed by it, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that as a policy matter, this
oard pledges continued support of the Association and its service.
