ELECTION TO BE HELD NOVEMBER 6, 2001, A PROPOSED CHANGE TO
THE HOME RULE CHARTER ARTICLE VIII BY AMENDING SECTION 8.2.3
RESOLUTION #L2001
RECITALS
1. The County of Pitkin in the State of Colorado, is a duly created political
subdivision of the State, organized and operating as a home rule charter county
pursuant to the general statutes of the State and a county home rule charter (the
Charter") adopted pursuant to the Colorado Home Rule Powers Act.
2. The members of the Board of County Commissioners of the County of
Pitkin ("the Board") have been duly elected, chosen and qualified.
3. Pursuant to Section 8.1.1 of the Charter and C.R.S. §30-11-506, the
Board may by resolution propose changes and amendment to the Pitkin County
Charter to be submitted to the qualified electors of Pitkin County.
4. The Board recognizes that it is appropriate to amend Article 8.2.3 to
be consistent with CRS §30-10-303.
ARTICLE VIII - MISCELLANEOUS
Section 8-2 Public Meetings
CURRENTLANGUAGE:
8.2.3 - Meetings shall be held within the County at a convenient time and
place; provided, however, that the Board shall meet (at the County seat) at least
once each quarter, although such meetings need not be held on the first Monday
in January, April, July and October, as presently required by statute.
PROPOSED LANGUAGE:
8.2.3 — Meetings —The Board of County Commissioners shall meet at the
county seat at least one business day of each month and at such other times
and locations within the county as in the opinion of the board the public interest
may require. Such meetings shall be held on a regular and published schedule,
as determined by resolution of the board.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS OF PITKIN COUNTY, COLORADO, that the proposed
amendments to the Charter be submitted to the qualified electors of Pitkin

County at am election to be held November 6, 2001, pursuant to Section 8.1.1 of
its Charter and C.R.S. §30-11-506, as the following ballot question:
AMENDMENT TO ARTICLE VIII- Section 8 MISCELLANEOUS — Subsection
8.2.3 - PUBLIC MEETINGS
"Shall the Pitkin County Home Rule Charter be amended to provide
that the Board of County Commissioners meet once a month to be
consistent with State statute?"
