HomeMy WebLinkAboutbocc.res.171.2001 RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF PTPKIN COUNTY, COLORADO,GRANTING MINOR AMENDMENT TO THE MASTER PLAN AND SCENIC OVERLAY REVIEW APPROVAL TO THE PITKIN COUNTY AIRPORT FOR AN APPROACH LIGHTING SYSTEM Resolution No. JJL-2001 RECITALS 1. The Board of County Commissioners of Pitkin County("Applicant"),as owner of the Pitkin County Airport,has applied to the Board of County Commissioners of Pitkin County,Colorado(`BOCC")for tle installation of an approach lighting system(ALS)on the north end of the runway for the purpose of improving safety for arriving aircraft after dark and during inclement weather and to allow the Airport to regain a published procedure for nighttime instrument landings. 2. The BOCC heard this application at a duly noticed special public hearing on September 4,2001, at which time evidence and testimony were presented with respect to this application. 3. The BOCC finds that the Applicant's proposal complies with the Pitkin County Land Use Code and the Airport Master Plan,provided that conditions of this document are adhered to. NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT DETERMINED by the Pitkin County Board of County Commissioners that it does hereby grant a Minor Amendmentto the Airport Master Plan and Scenic Overlay Review to the Aspen/Pitkin County Airport, subject to the following conditions which shall run with the land and be binding on all successors in interest: l. An Earthmoving Permit shall be obtained from the Community Development Department prior to commencement of work if all grading and fill placement exceeds 50 cubic yards. 2. The disturbed area shall be revegetated with native vegetation within one growing season of the project's completion. The revegetated area shall be irrigated as necessary to ensure the survival of the new vegetation. The Applicant shall revegetate the disturbed areas with a native grass seed mix approved by the Pitkin County Land Management Department. 3. The tallest pole shall be limited to 16.8 feet. The poles shall be rust or a brown color that blends in with the surrounding environment. No non-reflective material shall be utilized. 4. Within six months of the installation of the approach lighting system,the Applicant shall evaluate whether the light fixtures shall be retrofitted with shields to screen the light sources from Highway 82.
