` RESOLUTION OF TIiE BOARD OF COUNTY
� COMMISSIONERS APPROPRIATING ADDITIONAL �

�' SUMS FOR THE YEAR 1978

`: WHEREAS, the Pitkin County Sheriff and two of his
,r ..
•'y deputies have received contempt citations from the Pitkin � .
�'; County Court concerning policies and practices of the �
�-
�: Sheriff's Department with respect to the keeping of County
C,•

�; prisoners, and
� WHEREAS, these citations were issued for actions which �
�
�= occurred while the Sheriff and his deputies were performing
xt
��+ duties of the Sheriff's Department, and
z,
=°F WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners wishes to
�.,
`� provide for the legal defenses against these charges,but
wishes to make clear that the actions taken herein are not
>; .
�� necessarily an endorsement of the Sheriff's policies and
'3 practices which are the subject of this litigation, and
_,x.
� WHEREAS, the need for this contingency could not have �
been reasonably foreseen at the ti.me of the adoption of the
�� budget, and �
� WHEREAS, there is $2,.000 available in the Commissioners'
`f' Department for contingencies for just such purpose, and

�: WEiEREAS, it is deemed desirable to have the County ,.

;< Attorney's Department administer these legal defense funds. '-

That a transfer be made from the Commissioners' miscellaneous
cash contribution line #00113-8400 in the Commissioners' a
Department to the County Attorney's Department line
#00114-87010.
