.._F WHEREAS, the Board of Comnissioners of Pitkin County are comnitted ;i

$' to promoting public transportation as a means of improving congestion, �

�; pollution, and energy problems in the Roaring fork Valley, and �
�' �,� -

WHEREAS, this commitment has resulted in the formation and'operation

� of a county-wide transit system designed to serve residents and guests of �
� .
} the Roaring Fork Ualley, and �.�
� �
� WHEREAS, a new organization called the Colorado Transit Association,
# composed of local transit operators and planners, has been formed to �.
� �.
work toward the goal of giving every state resident an alternative to
� � `
� � driving or riding in a car, and
� WHEREAS, the main objectives of the Colorado Association of Transit �
� are to share information between operators and planners of public transit �
t �
� systems to enable them to improve their operations and to work with the �,
�
� Colorada State Legislature and state agencies to oromote public transit,
and
WHEREAS, Jon Eberle, President of the Colorado Association ofi 7ran-
sit, has requested tfiat Pitkin County join and become an active partici-
�
pant in the organization. ;�

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Buard of County Commissioners "�

of Pitkin County, Colorado: .�
i. That Pitkin Couny is desireous of joiniriq and participating in ��'
the Colorado Association of Transit and is authorized to pay �
the $25 annual membership fee. ;�

2. And that Curt Stewart, Aspen/Pitkin County Transportation Planner
be appointed as the County's representative, �i
