AMENDED RESOLUTION
Establishment of the Pitkin Covnty Election Advisory Board
WHEREAS:
1. The right of a citizen to exercise his vote is basic.to the conduct
of a democratic government. '
2. The election procedures and laws of Colorado put an inordinant load �
on the County Clerk and Recorder. �
3. A citizen should have the right of immediate appeal where a real or �
imagined disenfranchisement has occurred, which appeal should be
heard by more than one person.
4. Government has the obligation to put forth every effort to keep the
citizen informed as to what acts are necessary, on the part of the
citizen, in order to maintain the right to vote. �
5. In order to eliminate problems of voters, difficulties by election
judges, and complications for the Clerk and Recorder, input must be
provided to the appropriate legislative bodies so that laws which
concern the voter may be improved, updated and revised.
NOW T[iEREFORE, The Pitkin County Board of Commissioners does hereby establish an
Election Advisory Board, which board shall have the following purposes:
1. To aid, in whatever manner is legal and is mutually agreed upon between
the Clerk and the Advisory Board, the efforta of the office of the
County Clerk and Recorder with respect to the maintenance and review
of voter records.
2. To regularly review the procedures, problems, and complaints about '
elections and formulate suggestions which attempt to improve the I
election procedures, either to the Clerk and Recorder or to the

Legislative Representatives. � :
3. To aid the Clerk and Recorder in conducting of schools for election �
judges. �
� 4. To take actions to help inform the citizen of the election laws, times
and places for polling, qualification of electors, and possible dis- �
qualification of voters, either by direct action or by coordinating the
actions of civic groups.
5. To act at the time of an election as an advisory board which will pro-
vide information to voters. �
The Election Advisory Board shall consist of the following six members:

The County Clerk and Recorder and the County Attozney, �

An attorney (not the County Attorney) and a registered unaffiliated voter I
- appointed by the Board of County Commissioners to four-year terms which ,
shall be staggered by two years, j -
.:.�A,registered Democratic voter and a registered Republican voter elected to i
