CONTRACT FOR SERVICES OF THE ASpEN HISTORICAL SOCIETY
— WHEREAS, the Aspen Historical Society has studied and made record of

historical events and sites of Pitkin County and continues to promote the I
preservation and restoration of many historical sttes, and i

WHEREAS, the County desires to contract for services which the Aspen �

Nistorica7 Society, by virtue of being the repository of Couhty history, can
� provide. �
' NOW, 7HEREF4RE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Aspen Historical Society agrees to: §
1) Review the inv ntor of Pitkin County historic sites completed pursuant i
to Contract # select sites which are appropriate for nomination �
` to Nationa] Regi ter listing. #

2) Provide to the County any information and records relevant to proposed
County designations. _?
3) Act as a referral agency, making reconanendations about the compatibility ��
of a development proposal, in or near an historic site, when such is �
referred pursuant to County land use regulations. ;b
�
4) Work with the Ptanning Office to investigate means of preserving ;
historic sites including restoration plans and programs, creation of
historic districts and use of the Conservation Trust Fund and land
banking programs. ;3
. i 5j Advise in the preservation of historic sites as may be deemed appro-
priate by the Aspen Historical Society and Pitkin County. ;a
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, THE PARTIES AGREE TNAT:
1) The Aspen Historical Society shall submit quarterly performance reports: .�
March 31, June 30, October 3i and December 31, including work completed
in the past quarter on items 1 - 5 above.
2) The Planning Office shall review these reports as promptly as possible ;s
and either disapprove or approve them as sufficient and certify the �
work for payment by the County within fourteen (14} days of receipt `1
thereof. ff the Planning Office does not make a recommendation within ;'
fourteen (14) days, approval shall be presumed.
3} The Board agrees to make payments to the Aspen Historical Society as
� follows: -

Upon acceptance and approval of each quarterly performance
report, the 8oard shall pay the Aspen Historical Society Five -
Hundred Doilars ($500.00}, The total amount paid to the Aspen
Historical Society for work in T979, upon completiott of all �
the provisions of this Contract, in accordance with its terms ;
and conditions, shall be Two Thousand Dollars ($2,000.00). r
' � 4) The sole remedy for contractural difficulties or alleged violations $
7': by either party shall be mutual discussion and negotiation. Following
such discussion, the Board may terminate funding if its judgement deems j
such action is appropriate. �
5j Either party to this contract may cancel and terminate this contract �
at any time, as long as the party cancelling or terminating gives a , %
thirty (3) day notice in writing of intent to cancel or terminate; ;
however, this contract wi11 terminate on December 31, 1979. �
