THE EL'ECTORATE VARIOUS 1�MENDMENTS TO THE HOME RULE CHARTER

WHEREAS, the City of Aspen will be conducting its �
municipal election on May 8, 1979, at which time the Board oE �
County Commissioners wish to submit to the electorate the ±
�
question of various amendments to the Pitkin County Home Bule i
`•� Charter, all as more specifically provided beZow. �
N06d, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of County j

Commissioners oE Pitkin County, Colorado, by and through the ;

+ authority provided by Sections 2.8.1.1 and 7.2.11 of the �
�+ Pitkin County Home Rule Charter, does hereby call a caunty-wide. �
t special election to be held on May S, 1979, to consider the j
�
following questions: �

Shall the Pitkin County Home Rule Charter be amended ;

: by the addition of Section 5.8.3 to read as follows: �
The compensation and fees to be paid to the Coroner �
and his deputies for the performance of their duties �
_ shall be established from time-to-time by the Board
ot County Commissioners by formal resolution. " �

disaster agency required by statute, and the Board
shall appoint the Sheriff, or any of his deputies,
as the disaster director or coordinator, as the
Board shall determine appropriate. In the evant
the Sheriff shall be named director or coordinator, ;
' his salary shall not be increased by reason thereof,
but such responsibilities shall be deemed to be
incident to the office of the Sheriff.

Shall the Pitkin County Home Rule Charter be amended by �
the repeal of Sections 2.1, 2.1.1,� 2.4 and 2.6 and the �

reenactment of Sections 2.1, 2.4 and 2.6 to read as �
follows: �
- 2.1 Creation
There shall be a Board of County Commissioners consisting
of three (3) members who shall be qualified electors
of the County and who shall have resided within the E
County for not less than one (1) year prior to the
election.
2.4 Terms of Office
The term of office for commissioners shall be four (4)
years, with two commissioners elected at the primaxy
and general election in years in which the President t
� is elected, a nd the remaining cor.�missioner elected at } ` .
� the primary and general election in years in which �
� the Governor is elected.
� � 2.6 Vacancies ;
� 2.6.1 A vacancy shall be filled by the remaining two �
commissioners by unanimous vote. Any comcnissioner �

commissioner he or she has succeeded. �

2.6.2 If two commissioners be not remaining or be unable �

call a special election within 120 days after such �
appointment(s) for the election to fill the seat(s) ; ,
