OF PITKIN COUNTY, COLORADO, APP.ROVING THE PURECYCLE
WASTEWATER TREATMENT UNIT. ?

-� WHEREAS, PureCyele Corporation of Eoulder, Colorado has �3

�� petitioned the Board of County Commissioners as the Board of Health to �
� t
install inidvidual sewage and water supply systems in Pitkin County. ;�

� WHEREAS, The Board of Health has acknowledged a need for progress �
; � - -
€ in the fields of sewage treatment an@ water recycling using new technology ��
� and design. �
�
� WHEREAS, PureCycle Corporation has provided laboratory tests t�
F�
demonstrating that recycled water meets drinking water standards established x��
by the Environmental Protection Agency, as allowable levels of oontaminates. �„
�
Further, the Colorado Department of Health is continuing to evaluate the !'
� ��� �
performance of the treatment proeess with field tests under normal and �,
shock loads, and under conditions where organic peSticides and inorganic
toxie materials not normally found in domestic sewage are introduced into
�� the unit. A continued tes�ing program has been developed hy the Colorado
Department of Health. '

� NOW,THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Pitkin County Board of � -
Commissioners that the PureCycle water treatment unit is approved for
ec to the conditions of Sect3.ons 8.01 8.02 ��
� experimental ins�allation sub3 t , , �,,.

8.03, and 9.02 of the Pitkin County Individual Sewage Disposal Regulations

and the following additional conditions: ��; `
� 1. The PureCycle Corporation will furnish the Department
*' of Environmental Health with all test data on chemicaZ �
�.
�i and biological tests conducted on. experimental units
in other portions of the State of Colorado, until such
-� time as the Water Quality Control Division of the Colorado
.� Department of Health certifies that the PureCycle system
� is acceptable both as a sewage treatment system and as a
potable water system.

� 2. The PureCycle Corporation will establish a regional serviee
� center and parts warehouse with3n a 50 mile radius of units
g. installed within the County and respond promptly to any
upset of failure occurring in the unit.

' 3. The PureCycle Corporation will make available to the Department
of Environmental Health all information concerning routine
and emergency service calls and make available a continuing
service contract renemabl2 annually for the length of time �
any unit is in use. The PureCycle Corporation will notify
the Department of Environmental Health of changes in owner-
ship or in service contracts. 7

� PureCyole sewage treatment unit will only be considered � �
� if an acceptable design for a back-up sewage disposal R
system and water supply are provided. Experimental permit Ex
applications will only be considered for owner-oceupied -�`
- single family dwellings. �,x�,

'? 5. The approval of the PureCycle sewage treatment unit as �
� an experimental unit ivill be reviewed on or before September T,
1980, to determine the continued satisfactory performance
of experimental installations. This approval for use of
the PureCycle unit does not constitute an endorsement by
f� the Board of Health or any other County agency as to the
potability of treated effluent produced.
