Split between start are finish line. Volunteers will be briefed on their responsibilities prior to the start of the race. 1 timing company (2 people), located at finish line at Maroon Bells —10 USA Cycling Officials, 1 or 2 will be on motorcycles monitoring the race from the road. Minimal amplified announcing at start area. Event is open to only pro / elite women cyclists Fee will be charged of —$100 /participant (fee covers 4 days of racing) Site Plan (and maps): See attached maps. Communication Plan: Event coordinator - Jan Koorn 970 - 376 -8471 Radios will be used (frequencies - TBD. In 2011 used ASC radios on one of the Highlands patrol stations). We'll have —10 radios circulating. Emergencies will be radioed to emergency personnel (Aspen Ambulance)who will be stationed on the course. Participants will be given a race 'bible' prior to the start of the race with all of the race details, including safety and traffic plans. Any last minute changes will be announced to athletes before they start racing. Signage will be located at the start to direct traffic flow safely around the racers. Volunteers will be used in conjunction with the signage. Security Plan: No professional security company will be hired. We are requesting that at least one Pitkin County Sheriff vehicle be at the start area to assist if needed with any traffic issues. Medical Plan: Event organizer will contract with Aspen Ambulance to be on -hand for the duration of the event. Radios will be used to communicate emergencies to the ambulance. Insurance is in place through our USA Cycling event permit. Water will be available to the racers at the start and finish of the course. The plan is to utilize the traffic controls (personnel, signage, cones and fencing) along the road and at the base of Highlands to direct traffic. We plan on closing approximately 200 feet of the west bound land for the racer start area. The middle turn lane will be used to direct traffic either into the Highlands parking are or around the enclosure and back into the west bound lane when safe. Traffic will be held for 2 - 5 minutes before being released in order to maintain safe distances to the riders. Stopped drivers will be informed by volunteers of the racers on the road. Permission has been granted for this use by the owner, Aspen Skiing Company. Signage and volunteers will be used to inform attendees where to park. Parking will be free. Sanitation/Recycling Plan: Trash bins will be provided at the start and finish. Volunteers will do clean up during and after the event. Total trash is estimated to be about one Hefty bag. Total attendees (including racers, coaches, fans, etc...) is estimated to be less than 200. Alcohol Mitigation Plan: There will be no sale of alcohol at this event. Accessibility Plan: Disabled parking will be in designated spots at the Highlands parking area. Alcohol Permit & License: n/a Food Permit: n/a Parks /Open Space Permit: We do not intend on using any parks /open space for this event. Reviewed and accepted: NO Sales Tax & Bus. Reviewed and accepted: NO Public Notification: An event notification will be posted in the local papers prior to the race. Signage along the road will inform local residents the day of the race of possible traffic delays as well as cyclists on the road. Liability Insurance: Event will a USA Cycling sanctioned event. USAC will be the insuring agency. We will list any additionally insured parties as necessary. References: This will be the 2nd year of the event.
