t S4HERSAS, inclusion in the Constitution of the United States
is the basic right of every citizen, and �
WHEREAS, women have !�een and continue to be excluded from the

� Constitution, and
47HEREAS, Pitkin County views this exclusion of over one half i
�i of the population of the United States from protection of the Con-

�'� stitution as intolerable, and
�' � WHE?2�AS, by resolution in 1978 and 1981 the Soard of County �?'

� � Commissioners of Pitkin County have prohibited the expenditure of '
.*� County monies on out-of state travel, food or accommodations for �

County officials or employees who travel to states which have not �
r � ratified the Equal Rights Amen�ment as a r,ieans of urging non-ratifying

t� WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Pitkin County

continue to strongly support the adoption of the Equal Rights Amend- �!

ment, �
NOW, TH�REFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Co;nmissioners �

of Pitkin County, Colorado, that the Board urgently and strongly
�
rsquest the states that have £ailed, at this time, to ratify the f
Equal Rights Amendment to do so prior to June 30, 1982, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a copy of this resolution be for-
warded to the Governors of the states which have not yet ratified
the Equal Rights Amendment.
