WHEREAS, the Aspen Skiing Company is the owner of an 8.5 acre site at the �•
�''° base of the Buttermilk Ski Area, more particularty described in Appendix A,
attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference, and i
WHEREAS, this 8.5 acre site currently contains the following uses: 1} �
the Main Buttermilk Restaurant, 2) a ticket office, 3 a children's ski school,
_ 4) a mechanical shop, 5) the mountain managers' offices, 6) a ski rental and i
l
accessories shop, 7) ski school facilities, 8) the Pitco-Aspen Transportation �

F Center, and 9) 336 parking spaces; and
��, �;� WHEREAS, the applicant is requestin9 special review approvai in order to
�.:
� redevelop and expand some of these existing uses; and
; � WHEREAS, the redevelopment does not add or chanqe any uses in this Base �
` e �Area but proposes the addition of 5,490 square feet of commerciat space -- a
3,000 square foot addition to the Pitkin-Aspen Transportation Center, a 1500 �
'�� square foot addition to the mountain managers' offices and an additional 990
� square feet in patio space for the ticket office and the children's ski school;
and
� WHEREAS, the proposed redevelopment wiil result in the following floor

WHEREAS, the proposed changes will provide for a more positive tourist
experience, resu7t in a definite visual improvement, relieve overcrowded
conditions and also provide renovated space for more efficient operation of
the ski area, and

t 8uttermilk Area Plan and adopted amendment to the Aspen Area General Plan of j

� WNEREAS, it was found that the additional commercial space proposed did �y;

�'� not generate new employees and therefore compiiance w9th the employee housing. -?;'
a;., requirements of Section 5-300 was not necessary.
� NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of I
Pitkin County, Colorado, that special review approval is hereby granted to ;

allow the redevelopment of the Buttermilk Main Base Area subject to the above f
� proposed floor areas for each use and subject to the condition that a drainage i
�
plan be submitted to and approved by the County Engineering Department prior 1
to the Buttermilk mechanical shop's move to the Pitco-Aspen Transportation I
� Center. �
