RF,; A RESOLUTION REAFFIRMING THE INTENT OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY ?
i,;:� COMMISSIONERS OF PITKIN COUNTY, COLORADO, TO WITHDRAW EROM ;
��?:; THE PUBLIC EMPLOYEES SOCIAL SECURITY PROGRAM EFFECTIVE
:i JANUARY 1, 1983. �

�y, WHEREAS, County employees currently participate in the '
�� Public Em lo ees Social Securit Pro ram in accordance with an '•,
�:.� P Y Y g
�r� agreement entered into by Pitkin County with the Colorado De-
��� partment of Employment Security on June 13, 1951; and �

{:„J WHEREAS a comprehensive attalysis has been completed by
� .
�.. Martin E. Sega1 Company dated May, 1982 addressing the implica-
f� tions of withdrawing from the Social Security Program and, more �.

��� (
specifically, the effects of termination upon Pitkin County `�
�. ,!;;� Employees; and ! .
;;`� WHEREAS, due to the escalating costs of participating in �
, �,.+ the Social Securi.ty Prograia and the availability of alternative „
;`; :?
programs offered by the private sector at Iower cost, bids for
• �;��� "
`►:� alternative benefit progams were solicited; and �
.t~�s:"A WHEREAS, it has been determined that withdrawal from �`
!� �.
�Y '� the Pu'�lic Employees Social Security Program and adotpion of an �

alternative beneEit program is in the best interests of both �:-:
� the employer and the euployee. �,
�: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED TIiAT TfiE BOARD OF COUNTY ��
COMMISSIONERS OF PITKIN COUNTY, COLORADO hereby notifies the �
- Colorado Department of Employment Security of its intention to ���

withdraw from the Public Emoloyees Social Security Program on
January 1, 1983.
