ROCKY MOUNTAIN ADVENTURE GAMES

RECITALS
L American Adventure Productions,in association with the Aspen Kayak School,
Aspen Air Force,and the Aspen Mountain Bike Festivat,hereinafter ;7��'
j "Applicants,"have applied to the Board of County Commissioners of Pitkin
County,Colorado,hereinafter"Board,"for approval of a Temporary Use Permit �
to hold a coordinated hang gliding competition,series of bicycle races,and
kayaking races,pursuant to Section 3-20030 of the Land Use Code.
2. The Land Use Code requires diat the Board determine that the request for a permiY
is necessary to hold the public event or celebration and that adequate pmvision
has been made for police snpervision,insurance,azea maintenance and public
parking.
3. The Boazd considered the Applicani's request to hold the events at a public

� meeting on June 26,1996 aYwhich time the Boazd found that the Applicant's
� request meets the requirements of the Land Use Code. �
' NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the Boazd that it does hereby
grant a Temporary Use Permit for the Rocky Mountain Adventure Games subject to
the following conditions:
1) This temporary use permit is issued to American Adventure Productions for a
series of coordinated events,including hang gliding,bicycle races,and kayak
' races. The event will take place from 5:3U a.m.on Saturday July 6th to 6:00
p.m.on Sunday July 7th,1996.
2) The applicant shall posi a$10,000 bond and indemnification for the event,to .
the satisfaction of tl�e County Attomey,prior to issuance of the temporary use
permiY.
3) The applicant shall provide an insurance certificate to the satisfaction of the
Risk Manager prior to the issuance of the temporary use permit. -

4} The applicant shall provide additional details on the Safety and Operating

Plan to the satisfaction of tlie Emergency Management Coordinator prior to , �,,

5) The applicant shall adhere to all material representations made in the '" `

application and in the public meeting.

obtained by the appiicant and submitted to the Community Development

O�ce prior to commencement of the event. -
7). The applicants sha11 provide public service announcements and �'`

advertisements in Yhe loca]papers and on the local radio stations a minimum `
of 72 hours in advance of the commencement of the event.These i'.„ -

the event including when trail and road closures will occur. r'

8) A signage plan indicating road ciosures shall be submitted to the County ,1
Engineer a minimum of 72 hours prior to tlie commencement of the event. 1��
9) Vehicle trips up Aspen Mountain shail be consolidated by the applicant to a

10) Prior to the commencement of the event,approval shall be obtained by the �!
applicant from the Aspen Valley Land Trust for use of Stein Park.
11) Prior to commencement of the event,the applicant shall obtain approval for �,,

� the use of Jaffee park from the County Land Manager.
