RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF
COLORADOANS FOR RECYCLING
Resolution No. 81-97
WHEREAS, the Pitkin County Board of Commissioners recognizes
_ that roadside litter and an absence of recycling incentives are prob- '�
lems which are statewide in scope, and •
WHEREAS, Colorado does not now have effective legislation which -
encourages the return for deposit and subsequent recycling of beverage -
containers, and �

� WfIEREAS, legislation mandating a refund for returned beverage con-
I tainers has proven itself effective in other States in reducing litter,
�;
Iencouraging recycling, and promoting other social and economic benefits, ,
and �

WHGREAS, Coloradoans for Recycling has organized itself for the �
_ purpose of placing an initiative on the 1982 genera2 election ballot �
I�

#': that will require that a minimum refund value be placed on all beverage
�' containers, '�'
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Pitkin County Board of
Commissioners does officially endorse the efforts of Coloradoans for

Recyclinq and authorizes Coloradoans for Recycling to use the name oE
- Pitkin County in their promotional materials, and further authorizes ;�:;
_ ;c
the Pitkin County Environmental Coordinator to assist in the appropriate f
;;
local promotion of the activities of Coloradoans for Rec1�cling.
