�,n4� PUBLIC PASSAGE OF THE TWO COUNTY BALLOT QUESTIONS
FUNDING TRANSPORTATION SERVICES AND FACILITIES
��'`�+-' TO BE PRESENTED TO THE ELECTORATE MAY 3, 1983

�`' WHEREAS, the City of Aspen and Pitkin County desire to fund !

j� and operate a consolidated transportation system under the management �
'� of a board consisting of both elected officials and public at large, and `

- '�' WHEREAS, the Cit and Count have entered into �

Y y joint agreements
- to fund the construction of a 50 bus maintenance facility and the
�' acquisition of 16 new coaches, and j
r�� ;

t� • WHEREAS, at a special County election to be held May 3, 1983 .;
.,",� ;:
;;.� two questions are beinq submitted to the voters asking that the county- �
. :_,
� ti� wide sales tax be increased from 2fi to 3� to fund County service when the ?

:`� current property tax funding lapses December 31, 1983, and that �:,

'•� $1,II00,000 in sales tax revenue bonds for new buses and to complete the �

�_'� funding of a maintenance facility be authorized for issuance and sale, �

f"� WHEREAS, the Pitkin County Home Rule Charter requires that the

?=;� majority approving these ballot questions be at least one-sixth of the
u:�' registered electors,
