{.r� RE: CURFEW EXEMPTION FOR THE SNOWMASS
`� BALLOON FESTIVAL

. + 1 WHEREAS, the Snowmass Balloon Festival has requested

_y:::j the use of the airport runway from 0530 hours until 0645 hovrs
'�4 �'� local time on July 13, 1984, and
� � WHEREAS, the request is to allow the Balloon Cross
''�� ��
��-�_=:;::.a Country event to launch at the airport for safety considerations.

� All balloons and equipment will be off of the runway by 0700

� hours for the normal airport opening, and

y WHEREAS, the F.A.A. will request that all balloons

obtain an altitude of 3,000 feet above the airport by 0700
� -� hours, and
4� � WHEREAS, an additional request is to allow the < r

,� .� departure of the Pitkin County Air Rescue Super Cub on i .
i � ,'
�� July 13, 14 and 15th at 0600 hours. The Super Cub will be -i:;
� a

� � used as a safety aircraft for the balloon event, and

�f � WHEREAS, the Home Rule Charter, Section 2-8.1(d)

provides for adoption of emergency formal resolutions, and . f
'" � WHEREAS, time constraints prohibit compliance with

� the notice and hearing requirements otherwise applicable, and �
� .
3= WHEREAS, adoption of this is immediately necessary �"'
r � for the welfare of the community.
4 _� NOW THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Board of County

r � Commissioners of Pitkin County, Colorado, that this curfew
,�..:,� exemption for the Snowmass Balloon Festival be approved and
i�",,; accepted.
