CONFIRMING SUPPORT FOR HB 97-1250,A BILL ESTABLISHING -
A LOCAL GOVERNMENT GROWTH ASSISTANCE PR�GRAM ; �=

1. Pitkin County is experiencing the impacts of growth in the form of increased demand
for services such as housing, transportation, health care, chiId care, education, public safety, �".`_�,�
workforce issues and the environment. ��.r`;
2, Pitkin County is working as part of the Rurai Resort Region made up of Eagle, j :
Garfield, Lake, Pitkin and Summit Counties to collaboratively address those issues of growth
which cause impacts across traditional political boundaries.
3. Summit,Pitkin and Eagle Connties are the top three per capita producers of sales tax
revenues to the State of Colorado. .
" 4. La[ce and Gafield Co¢nties contribute workers to those counties generating high sales -
tax revenues to the state and also bear a dispropoRionate share of the impacts of the growth in
those counties wh91e not being able to benefit from higher revenues.
5. HB 97-1250 introduced by Rep. Russeit George provides ihe mechanism and funding '£�
to help high growth counties and their impacted neighbors address common issues and also ��.
fosters collaborati�n between state and]ocal governmental entities. !"
NOW THEREFORE BE Tf RESOLVED by the Board of County Cortunissioners of a�
- Pitkin Counry, Colorado that theydo hereby urge the Colorado General Assembly to enact IiB i
97-1250 during the 1997 legislative session. ;
