1. Whirling disease has drastically affected the trout population in the state of ?s�,,;':�, .
Colorado and will have an impact on tourism and the economy of the State for years to come. �'�'` .

' 2. There are only thcee hatcheries in the State that are free of whirling disease and �'�'

'<` � therefore the number of trout available for stocking have been radically reduced. ;;:; �

, 3. Due to the reduced fish populadon available for stocking, and in an effort to �
prevent [he spread of whirling disease, the Colorado Division of Wiidlife has prohibited the }`-r*�
stocking of fish in the Crystal River this season. .:{

� 4. The econom of the C stal River Valle and the Town of Redstone de ends ���

� heavily on summer tourism,and related activities,including fishing on the Crystal River. �'

- NOW THEREFORE BE TT RFSOLVED by the Boazd of Couirty Commissioners of ;
� Pitldc►County, Colorado that it urges the Division of Wildlife to change the fishing regulations '
on the Crystal River to catch and release fishing only,to allow the fish populations to maintain a
� healthy number,until whirling disease is resolved as a statewide problem.
