WILDLIFE COMMISSION TO SELECf DRAFT OPTION ONE FOR DAILY
BAG AND POSSESSION LIMITS ON THE WEST SLOPE � ':

1)Recreational fishing in the Roaring Fork Valley has increased in recent yeazs. As a '
result,pressure on the self sustaining fisheries has increased leading to decreases in the •
catchability of fish in the major drainages in the azea. This has been further confounded
by the salmonid affecting disease(Whirling Disease)and the loss of stockable fingerlings
_ due to Bacterial Kidney Disease(BKD). It is the understanding of the Board that this is a
'r��i , long term problem that will not get materially better for another five to seven yeazs.

� 2)The Roaring Fork Valley is home to two excellent fisheries and is therefore a
!
destination for fisherman from all over the warld. Further tl�e presence of a tailwater
fishery(Fryingpan)and the main stem of the Roaring Fork River which remains
� relatively ice free through the winter,has resuited in year round fishing pressure
• � � throughout the yeaz. It is felt that additional wnservation measures must be undertaken
' i to sustain this valuable resource.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Boazd of County Commissioners of w"
- E Pitkin County,Colorado that the Boazd urges the Wildlife Commission of the Colorado
. . Division of Wildlife to choose option one of the Draft Regulation#107.

Miguel,East,Taylor,and Elk River Drainages-8 Fish in aggregate.
