The Boazd of County Commissioners(BOCC)is concerned about the quality of ' ^ ' ��-;.;: . ' surface and ground water in Pitkin County,and reaiizes fhe potential impact individual ` � sewage disposa]systems{ISDS)pose to these aquifers. ?� ` � � � 2. The BOCC realizes the public health impacts of surface and ground water 4� f deterioration as the result of subsurface dischazge of waste water. � I !. j 3. The BOCC rewgnizes the fact that all areas of Pitkin County cannot be served by j;� public sewage collection systems,and in such cases,the technicatly conect method of i` • sewage treatment is by the installation of ISDS. ��t� • � 4. The BOCC recognizes that establishing minimum design standazds for ISDS iusing sound scientific and technical practices is necessary to assure long-term protection E of surface and ground water in Pitkin County. 5. The BOCC recognizes their ability to adopt ISDS regulations specific for Pititin County,using the Colorado"Guidelines On lndividual ewage Disposal�ystems", - � Revised 1994,as a minimum standazd. � � 6. The BOCC realizes they can make sections of die Pitkin County ISDS regulation � as strict,or more strict than the Colorado Guidelines. � 7.
