� 1. The Board of County Commissioners is required under State Law �� _
� to discharge the duties of a Board of Equalization. � ";r�
;
� 2. The Board of Equalization is charged wi.th the miniaterial duty
of assuring that the Assessor fairly and equally applies
appraisal procedures. `'t '' .

� 3. The volume of appeals requires innovative methods or the
_ hiring of expensive hearing officers.
4. The Board recognizes that the County cannot afford the expense
� of a hearing officer. ;x�
� NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissionera �:�
of Pitkin County, Colorado that:
• 1. One member of the Board of County Comtnissionera ahall act
as a Hearing Officer, acting on behalf of the Board, and shall
conduct a public hearing and rule upon the appeal. Such
rulings shall be ratified by the Board at its next available
regular meeting on its consent agenda. A Board member can ask . ���
i that any appeal be considered an adminiatrative item by �?
r � requesting fellow Board members to remove it from the consent
'I agenda.
2. Whenever posaible, individual Board members will not hear
appeals from their diatrict, but may vote upon the ruling. ��
