, r 1. On November 22, 1976, the Pitkin County Board af Covnry Commissioners
passed Resolution No. 76-146,which in conjunction with Eagle County,es[ablished the Basalt
';r.:;�� Regional Library District. The library district boundaries identified in Resolution No. 76-
146 were described as "beiag cotermmous wi[h the Roaring Fork District RE-1 5chool
� District".
2. The Roaring Fork District RE-1 School District is comprised of the city and
surrounding rural area of Glenwood Springs, the town and surrounding rural azea of
Carbondale, and the town and surrounding mral area of Basalt.
3. The intent of creating the Basalt Regional Library Disttict was to provide the
residents of the greater Basalt area with adequate library facilities. At the time Resolution No.
76-146 was passed, the Basalt Attendance Area of the Roaring Fork School District was .
•�. idenfified as the Roaring Fork School District RE-1J. In drafting the Resolution, a
typographical error was made which identified the library boundaries as RE-1 rather than RE-
1J,
4. The language, as being coterminous with the Roaring Fork District RE-1 �
School Distri�t' used to describe the boundazies of the Basalt Regional Library District,
effectivety included the Redstone area, which was not the intent of the Board of County
Commissioners.
` 5. It is necessary to amend Resolution 76-146 to establish the correct Basalt
Regional Library District boundaries.
6. The Pitkin County Library District was created by tlie electorate in 1940 and
, , y included all of Pitkin County. In establishing the Basalt Regional Libtacy District, the Pitkin j
County Libtary Distric[gave up only the Basalt Attendance Area of the Raaring Fork School ;
� District RE-1, also known as the RE-lI portion of the District. The Fitkin Coumy Library ' •�
�� District did not relinquish the Redstone are�.
7. For the purposes of mill levy assessment and district eligibility for election ballot
� questions, it is necessary to correct and reestablish the boundaries of 6oth the Basalt Regional ',�_�
" Library District and the Pitkin Counry Library District.

COMMISSIONERS OF PITKIN COUNTY, COLORADO AS FOLLOWS: i;
