i RECITALS ��;:�

1. The Colorado Department of Transportation and Pitkin ��
County have entered into a contract dated July 21, 2993, which
t provided for construction of traffic signals at the intersection of �;�� �
State Highway 82 and the entrance to the Aspen/Pitkin County "`£
Aizport. ,t�;.
2. The Colorado Department of Transportation had planned to
� contract with a private contractor for the i.nstallation of traf£ic
signals at the intersection of SFi 82, but was unable to obtain bids
satisfactory to the State as a basis for award of a construction
contract. ,
• ,_�.�
;: 3. Pitkin County has indicated a willinqness and capability "`'�'�
to perform the construcfion of traffic signals at SH 82 and Brush �
_ � Creek Road. ;

G 4. Due to the close proximity of the subject intersections,
and based on the favorable. relation between the private � '_
; contractor's bid and the County's stated cost of performing the
� additional work, the Colorado Department of Transportation deems it �`
� to be in the public interest to contract with the County for
completion of the additional work.
5. The parties herein desiYe to amend the basic contract '

with respect to the project work and the funding to provide for
� completion of the additional work.

! 6. The Colorado Department of Transportation will contribute
$100,000 to this project_ -
7. Pitkin County as a member of the Aspen to Snowmass 1=
" Transportation Planning Group has proposed the SH 82/Brush Creek '�,
� Road signal project, and has received the endorsement of the Aspen ��`�;
to Snowmass Transportation Plan elected officials. �r� "

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County F
f Commissioners that the Chairman of the Board is authorized to enter �'� � �

the attached agreement between the State of Colorado Department of ���
Transportation and Pitkin County which specifies the details and 4��� :
