A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF
COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF PITKIN COUNTY, COIARADO,
AMENDING THE PERSONNEL POLICIES AND PROCEDURES MAIQUAL ,
Resolution � 89-�

WHEREAS, the Pitkin County Personnel Policies and Procedures '�•`'�
Manual was duly adopted on September 27, 1988; and ��
� .
WHEREAS, Section 8.4.2.545 of such manual authorizes section
heads to take certain disciplinary actions, including discharge, k:i:��; , ,
- demotion, or suspension of an employee; and
.,� i:j:..`�� .
, WHEREAS, Section 8.4.2.550 of such manual provides for
appeals of disciplinary actions and authorizes the County
� Manager (or Sheriff, for public safety employees) to review such .
appeals and render the final decision for the County; and �

WHEREAS, the County Manager and Sheriff also act as section
i :;� heads and thus may be placed in the position of reviewing their `��5�'.
:� own actions, or their positions may be temporari2y vacant; and �'

'� WHEREAS, in such cases the Board of County Commissioners
� may want to designate another qualified County employee to
`+� conduct the review and render the final decision for the County
,..� or the Board itself may want to act in that capacity. -
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVE� BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY
�`� COMMISSIONERS OF PITKIN COUNTY, COLORADO that the Pitkin County
;� Personnel Policies and Procedures Manual is hereby amended by the
addition of the foZlowing paragraph to Section 8.4.2.550:
•;� "(5) In the event that the County Manager (or Sheriff)
aannot conduct the review and render the decision
';�� authorized by the previous paragraph because of a
� conflict of interest, bias, position vacancy, or other �
bOhd fide reason, the Board of County Commissioners i
,� shall designate another qualified emp2oyee to do so or ;
the Board itself may act in that capacity." �
