� RECITALS

1. There is presently pending before the Board of County _
� Commissioners a General Submission Application by the owners of
.,,� certain private lands, known as the Hummingbird Lode, located
-. within the boundaries of the United States Forest Service in the
Hanter Creek Valley for development of that land as a single
� family residence.
2. Such development would run directly contrary to the
a:� policy oE this Board, as established by Resolution No. 89-86, '+�<
concerning the development of lands within and adjacent to United �� `
'` � States Forest Service lands.

;� 3. Such development would detract significantly from the
natural, open space values which have been enjoyed by the
. � citizens and visitors to Pitkin County and the Hunter Creek _ _
.',i^�
Valley and would encourage further development therein.
4. Such development would significantly increase the
:�,� pressure to improve and maintain the Hunter Creek North Access,
which is not currently budgeted and would conflict with the
:: various recreational uses of that access, including hiking,
_''�'• bikinq, and skiing.
v NOW, THEREFORE, BE ZT RESOLVED by the Board of County ;�
`�,-� Commissioners of Pitkin County, Colorado that it is in the
interest of Pitkin County and for the welfare of its citizens and
�� residents to preserve as open space or parklands that certain
parcel of real estate known as the Hummingbird Lode Claim,
` U.S.M.S. No. 3404, and to that end acquire said property in the
name of Pitkin County.
�1-"�� BE IT FORTHER RESOLVED that the Chairwoman is hereby
:;f authorized and directed, on behalf of the Board, personally or i �
� through appropriate County Staff, to take all necessary and r ;
appropriate actions to acquire said parcel of real estate, either ;�y
� through negotiated purchase or proceedings in eminent domain. :
