� . are usually located in remote or sparsely populated areas, is attracting large

; � Cooperator has the authority to enforce the State and loca�, laws within Pitkin
County ; and,

� G'HEREAS, the Aspen Ran�er District is wh011Y located and the So�ris Ran er i
'; �. District is partiallv located in Pitkin County for which the cooperator has the
• responsibility of enforcement of State and Local laws, and,

WHEREAS, the Cooperator is limited by level of financing as to the amount of
� protection, patrol, and investigation that can be provided at the more remote 'u
; � areas within Pitkin Countv.
NOW THEREFORE, the parties hereby mutually agree that it is desirable to co-
� .� operate in better utilizing the resources oP both ageacies while providing for

2. Upon specific request of the Service to provide special services beyond �
the enforcement oP State artd County civil and criminal laws provided
� under Clause A-1 relating to the prqtection of persons and their property ,
in accordance with the oparating and financial plan required by Clause
C-2.
� . 3. To furnish the Service on a monthly basls an itemlzed statement of ��.��k:7:-"�
; expenditures incurred under Clause A-2 et the rates established by the �-:;{a�;,;;_.:
� annual operating end £inancial plan in Clause C-2. ��, '

; 4. To maita3n accounting end performance records of the reimbursable ex-
penses set forth in A-2 in a manner that will facilitate an examination �� '�.;� ,
by offic3als of the Service or other Federal officials who may be
required to examine such records. Such records will be retained for a
' period of 3 years following the year the expenditares were incurred � .;

Foresti Service radia frequencies are utilized. (Obtairt a letter of agree-
j ment from the Forest Service and file with the Federal Communication

� 7. To furnish the Service 3n con�unction with the statement of expenditures
t� required by Clause A-3 Form FS-53oo-5, Cooperative Law Enfarcement
t Activity Report, identifying the number of crimes occurring on National
� Forest Systero lands. The report sha12 follow the FBI Uniform Crime
' .
,� reporting groupings, Part I and Part II offenses. Offense and arrest in-
� formation sha11 be combined and reported for each crime. The report shall
separate the crimes handled under the cooperative agreement from those
� handled by the cooperator during regvlar duties. '.•

1. To enforce the Federal laws and regulations relating to the National
Forest System lands in Pitkin County.

� specifying the service to be provided and agreed rates for reimbursement.

individual and alternate(s) to make or receive requests for special w� � �

'�= �` 3. That officers and/or agents oP the Pitkin Countv Sheriff's Department f '
� performing services under this agreement in enforcing State and I.ocal j
:� laws are, and will remain, under the supervision, authority, and �
responsibility af the Pitkin County Sheriff's. Such services provided by
1 the cooperator and its employees shall not be considered as coming
!; within the scope of Federal employment, end none of the benefits of -
f: Federal employment will be conferred under this agreement.

;� �i. In connection with the performance of work under this agreement, the pro^ °.
'a visions of Form nn-369� Equal Opportunity, attached, are hereby included �'
�� as a part of this agreement. On Form AD-369. "Contractor" means
i� "Cooperator," and "Contracting Officer" and "Contracting Agency" means
�' "Forest Service."
5. No member of, or delegate to, Congress, or Resident Commissioner shall be
r admitted to any share or part of this agreement or to any benefit that
may arise therefrom; but this provision shall not be construed nor
ii extended to this agreement iY made with a corporation for its general

6. The period of this sgreement shall be from the date of execution until °i

AEINIDURSABLE SERVICES REQUESTED BY THE FORBST SERVICE

� Forest Service and Pitkin County Sheriff's Department, becomes a part of �l:"� �
� the agreement between said parties dated �uly 12, 1989 4'�-
� A. Pitkin Courtty Sheriff's Department Agrees;
� 1. A. Zn addition to the normal Sheriff's patroZ duties, to assign a �, r;

deputy to make extra patrols in the Independence and PIaroon Creek j; ' :
} corridors, with specific attention given to Difficuit and Fiaroon

Lake Cempgrounds. Other areas that will be given attention are:
Silver Queen Campground. Silver Bell Campground, and Silver Bar E
� Campground in Maroon Valley, and Weller Campground, Lincoln Culch ;;���:.;
! Campground, and Lostman Campground in the Independence Corridor. '��='i=,`�
The extra patrols are to be made between the hours of 7 p.m. '��'��

B, The Sheriff's Department upon request from en authorized Farest
Service officer shall remove abandoned vehicles and associated
personal contents within the abandoned vehicles from National
Forest lands end impound tl�ese vehicles. The removal and impound-
� ment procedures shall be in accordance with State law.
, 'i:�. During regular patml of the Crystal River drainage to pass
through the Redstone campground located on the Sopris District and
; on July 4th to make a check of this campground during the evening. '==`'� -

i 2. To dispatch additional deputies within the manpower capabilities for �. '

unforeseen or emergency s3tuatlons upon request of the Forest �

j the Aspen Ranger District, 806 West Ballam, Aspen, Colorado 81611.
