RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
OF PITKIN CDUNTY, COIARADO
SET'PING S�ILARIES FOR THE ASSESSOR,
CLERK AND RECORDER, AND SHER=FF =
PURSUANT TO SECTION 2-7.4 OF THE HOME RULE CHARTER ,

' Wf�REAS, Section 2-7,4 of the Pitkin County Home Rule
Charter requires the County Commissioners to set the salaries for �`.,'"
the County Assessor, Clerk and Recorder and Sheriff on or before �;
the date of precinct caucuses as established by state statute,
said date being the first Monday in April, 1990, and; (<_, ,.

WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners has met with said
county officers to set the annual salaries of the County Sheriff, -
Assessor and Clerk and Recorder to be effective commencing with �
4:._,� the new terms of office of said County officers or their elected ';: ;
or appointed replacements on January S, 1991; � _
;� �~"�':� Wf�REAS, the Colorado Constitution and the Pitkin County �

_!•: �.r,.'�� Home Rule Charter permit the Boarfl to set the salaries of the
-;°'Y�3 elected officers above the limits otherwise speciPied by statute, .

•� WHEREAS, the Pitkin County Coiamissioners have determined
, that the salaries for the Assessor, Clerk and Recorder, and
_' Sheriff should be set based on the following criteria: [

1. The salaries should be based on the responsibilities
and duties of the office.
='^' Z. The salaries should be consistent with salaries of
�`�'�� similar positions within the County compensation plan.
~�.1 3. The salaries should reflect proper relationships with �
=.;s;� similar jobs in the private sector and other public agencies.
;�� 4. The salaries should adequately reflect the high cost of
`��'-r-� living within Pitkin county as compared to the corresponding
s�'�'�7 salaries set by the legislature for non home rule counties.
